As everyone here mentioned, don't mess around with your hearing. I always double up.

I use the 3M/Peltor Tactical Sport electronic muffs, plus I also use Mack's foam ear plugs. I happen to have narrow ear canals so I use their "slim" versions.

What makes it even better is I sprung for the gel cups for the earmuffs. REALLY comfortable, plus the seal is better since we are wearing the eye pro.

Been running this setup indoors with comps as wells as outdoors with rifle brakes, makes shooting very enjoyable

I have not doubled up to this point...I shoot outdoors..., but will start after my HL sporst get here, I have been using the Surefire EP4's and love them. I am a sound tech and let me tell you hearing never comes back.

+1 on both muffs and plugs. Plugs are not created equal. The best ones I had were silicone rubber and formable for a very good fit. The cheap ones don't fit the ear canal as well better than nothing, but not great).

I doubled up when working the flight line in the USAF because the noise level there is insanely high...but never felt the need on a shooting range. Still have my hearing, knock on wood.
