Cerakote on 1911 barrel and trigger

I'm going for an all-black look on my Lightweight Operator. I'd like to have the barrel and trigger cerakoted black, will that affect the function in any way? I'm aware that the finish on the barrel will wear with use, but will it affect the fit?

Also as a matter of curiosity, what if the pistol were a high end custom, something like a Nighthawk or Wilson Combat, would that affect the function or fit?

    Thanks guys!

I have thought of something similar. Maybe these guys could help.

You could send the barrel to Severns Custom and get the hard hat treatment on the barrel. As for the trigger, Harrison custom makes a ion bond coated trigger that is really nice. The face of the trigger is completely smooth and the over travel screw is in the back which is a nice setup.

Thinking of sending my ULC Compact into a NIC certified applicator and curious if this would void the warranty? Would call WC directly but they are closed. Just curious. Want the entire gun blacked out. Thanks for any input!

They have small, medium, and large.

Similar advice if you want the barrel black I would go with a process like hardhat or melonite / ion bond / dLC which will tend to last longer versus a spray and bake process.

Have a sa pro with birdsong finish with 350 rounds and it's showing wear already while my NH with melonite barrel is showing less wear but eventually I expect it to show wear since none of these are completely wear resistant.

No, and no. The coating is sooo thin, it will wear faster in places with tighter tolerances but it wont choke due to the coating.
