Best laser option for compact Glock with rail (29sf)

I know lasers are somewhat contrversial. They don't help identify the target, they are not a substitute for using the sights, etc.

However, I'm considering getting one for my Glock 29SF. One big advantage of a laser is during dry practice, and for helping new shooters see what they are doing when they pull the trigger. And they could be useful in tactical situations as well.

Any opinions on the best options for a laser for this subcmopact Glock? So many options out there, I'm not sure what's the best. Obviously, it needs to be compact, and it needs to be rugged. What are the best options?

Been looking at these ones. The red is half the price of the green, FYI.

The price on that seems suspiciously low. I would like something very high quality and made in USA.

Crimson trace is high quality and reliable. I think the Glock Crimson Trace grip lasers aren't as well done as the laser grips for metal framed guns. The grips though allow you to use regular holsters.

A Streamlight TLR-4 would probably work great on that size frame. If you wouldn't mind a light too.

Might as well have a light too and get a tlr4

            Decent price there

the Crimson trace rail master looks like a good carry option if you don't want the bulk of a light, some good info in this thread up there ^^^^

I have Crimson trace grips on a Glock 20. Pricey yes but always on poi and work well in low to semi bright conditions at 20 yards. Still allows use of holster or a light on the rail.

Thanks for the responses. It looks like the CT CMR-201 is the best option for laser-only, and the Streamlight TLR-4 for light+laser. There are major advantages to light+laser combo. Is the TLR-4 not too big for this Glock 29SF?

CT also has a light that looks small enough, the CMR-202, which might be a better choice than a laser-only.

I think he means too big, like the X300 Ultra and TLR-1 HL are too big/long to fit on smaller guns like a 30, 30S, 29 SF... but yes the TLR-4 is a compact light for smaller guns. IIRC it fits on my 29SF just fine where the TLR-1 would not. I can double check when I get a chance - I don't run a light on my 29SF.

Too big probably is based on your purpose. If I was only going to shoot a gun at the range and/or it was going to live in a nightstand, I would prefer a heavier setup. For carry, I'd prefer a more trim package. (phrasing...)

I had a Viridian C5L on my 30s. I chose it over the TLR-4 because I didn't like how the TLR-4 stuck out past the muzzle. Both are good light/laser combos, but have their weak points also.

TLR-1 sized lights fit well on Glock 17 length slides (as far as flush fit or shorter) and X300's fit Glock 34, 35, 41 slides well. TLR-1 and X300 on a 29, 30 you run out of rail space. They may just barely fit the rail, but the light extends way past the muzzle. Even on my 41, the X300 gets dirty with powder residue.

I don't mind the TLR-1 fit on a smaller gun. It does work well. I don't like the gap between the light and trigger guard however. I actually use my TLR-4 on a G22.

Thanks Stryper. That looks like what I'm looking for:
                            • Laser and light combo makes the most sense
                            • It is designed for sub-compact Glocks
                            • Light doesn't extend beyond the barrel
                            • High quality
