My daughter was planning on giving me her XDM 40 she had bought herself but I'm not sure that I can legally have it here in Calif. Pretty sure it's not on the Calif. registry. Anyway that I can still legally have it here?

Yes, the roster does not apply to a legitimate gift from your daughter. The roster only effects what can be purchased from dealer inventory. Your only worry is the mags (I don't think Springfield makes 10 rounders for the XDM). Have them blocked to 10 rounds prior to getting it in CA. The transaction must go through a ffl dealer also, by federal law. It can be shipped to the dealer, or your daughter can hand deliver it to a dealer. Make sure you find one that understands how to do an intrafamily out of state transfer. -
Great. I think I saw a post on here somewhere that sell blocks for the magazines. Thanks for the good news. Love shooting the XDM.
Thanks P5Comment

Very nice. There are no 10 rounds mags for the XDm .40
You will have to get them blocked.IF YOU BUY ANY BULK AMMO FROM LAX AMMO, YOU BETTER COUNT THE ROUNDS. I WAS SHORTED BY THEM.

Thanks XDmax. Do you know where I can get those or can I do it myself? I'm new to the forum and just getting to see what's available here for info but it looks like I came to the right place. I see you have a pretty good collection yourself. I'm looking at getting my ccw and was hoping to use the XDM if possible. My comfort level with this gun beats any other I have had in the past. My wife loves it more than her M&P Shield.Comment

I guess we should of asked, are the mags already in cali or a free state?
This is also a good option.

Read CA law... there is nothing in there stating that you cannot "own" full size mags. It simply states that you cannot purchase, manufacture, sell... I do not have the site available at the time, but simply google something along the lines of "CA law/full size magazines".Comment

If you saw that thread, you should have seen the DOZENS of other threads asking the very same question you did about intra-family transfer.

Which is why everyone before you, posted to block the magazines before coming to CA.sigpic
