Suggestions for painting a two tone?

I have a friend that owns two tone handgun sd9ve that he would like painted. I wanted to get suggestions from you guys before he does anything. He wants to paint the slide black if possible, and keep the bottom black.

What options/ways of painting the slide?
Would it be difficult? and has it be done before?

    Thanks

There is a Calgunner named FSDefense in Santa Ana who gets great feedback on his Cerakote jobs.
Personally, I would spend the money on night sights or trigger work first. Or even ammo, for that matter. Then again, I like the two-tone look.

would cerakote be the only option of painting the slide? or are there different alternatives? From what he tells me, it seems that hes just trying to ditch the two tone for black, but he's not trying to break the bank.

Cerakote would be the best option. DuraCoat scratches off too easily. I've done both, and Cerakote held up the best.

That said, unless he has a ton of scratched and wear I wouldn't do it. I would put that $100-200 aside and keep saving up for a different/additional gun. After all, you can never have too many guns in your collection. The Sigma's stainless slide and black frame is a signature look. People willing to buy a Sigma (which is already a small enough buyer pool) expect that slide to be stainless with black insets on the ridges.

While not the favorite in my collection, I do have a Sigma and I like the two tone look of it. I think it helps that I have several other guns in the collection that are already all black. I thought about selling it at one point. But I just can't do it. Has sentimental value. Father gave it to me for my 40th birthday. Can't believe I turn 42 next month!?!?!?!?!
