I think we will have to respectfully agree to disagree haha. In my personal opinion, I truly consider the DA pull of the Sig to be just as heavy, or "difficult," as the DA pull of the M9. Of course, as I mentioned, I switched to the Beretta D spring on my M9, and the trigger pull is pretty darn light when in DA.

As far as how I grip my slide when I rack my M9, I attached some pictures of what I mean. I found that by placing my hand forward on the slide (over the barrel) where you see it in the picture I avoid two things:

    1. I'm no where near the safety/decocker, therefore I have never accidentally engaged the safety.

    2. My hand is too far forward on the slide to risk slide bite when racking the gun.

This is how I normally rack my pistol when I chamber a round or pull back the slide under normal conditions:

This is how I rack my slide under "stress"

I don't use my thumb when I'm racking quickly because it's faster to just grab and pull. Please note, in no way is my hand obstructing the barrel.

I have never had my hand slide down into the safety/decocker, but I agree that adding grip tape would mitigate the chance of that occurring.

        Manny, thanks for the photos!

I see what you're saying, but after having the slide get my hand that way once when I was racking the slide under stress, I prefer to have my hands away from the ejection port and chamber. I've gotten used to using the safety as a grip to pull back the slide and just flipping it up, but still prefer the way the Sig fits my grip.

As you said, it's fine to disagree!

          Don't get me wrong, I still want a P226.

The Beretta 92/M9 was my favorite looking pistol growing up. I think it's because a few of my childhood toy guns were plastic Berettas and that stayed with me as the image of what a gun was.

I still want a P226 and a Glock 17 because at the end of the day, I like duty weapons in general.

I agree - as someone who works in a gun shop I believe many shooters "repeat the hate" because it la been drilled into them.

My favorite pistol is the browning hi-power, but I shot best with the beretta. I attribute its outstanding accuracy to its semi-fixed barrel, which does not unlonk from the slide like a 1911 or hi-power every time it's shot. It just moves back and forth a bit. It's why someone who isn't a particularly excellent shot like me is able to hit a soda can at 25 yards with every single shot!

My only complaint about the gun is that it's a bit large for a 9mm, but that's a very minor complaint.

Absolutely. Even though it's not my favorite, whenever I think "pistol," I think Beretta.

My favorite gun is a 1911 because it was my dad and my grandfathers.

What I shoot best is my 92fs. I shoot it well, and it fits my hand well. I shoot it better than my friends' sigs, glocks or s&w 9mms.

I bought mine preban and and I have a couples 15 rnd mags but I gnerally use 10 rounders at the range.

Probably have 5k rounds through mine over the years or more..never a single issue other than it being a touch finicky regarding ammo. I feed it federal or wwb at the range and it's flawless. I also really love my px4

I just put my thumb under the decocker when I operate the slide.
Given it's an ambi control you can do that with multiple methods.
                  Works for me.

Far too big/fat for a 15rd 9mm pistol. The 92FS was my first 9mm but shortly thereafter the market blew wide open with competitors that managed to put just as much capacity into a more comfortable, better shooting package. I sold my 92 over 20 years ago, I don't miss it a bit.

^This...It sounds like most are just comfortable with their standard glock layout (or whatever else) and not open to change.

I love my friends Italian 92FS. First time I ever shot it I was in all black at 25 yards. With my M&P45 I couldn't get in all black even though I had this gun for a year already.

Yes the grip is bigger, but it's still comfortable. Overall quality is excellent. Very nice finish. Any guns that are in the same price range are usually of a lot lesser quality. I remember the double action being very smooth, maybe a little longer pull. Single action was actually pretty nice. Maybe not a 1911, but if it didn't have a nice trigger I wouldn't have been able to get the groups I achieved with it.

"Jack of all trades, master of none."

Beretta 92's are solid handguns, definitely accurate the handful of times I've shot them.

I just prefer striker fired platforms, my first pistol was a Glock, all of my training and most of my experience is heavily invested in them already.

I have 2 DA/SA pistols (both SIGs), and frankly don't really consider them anything more than range toys, which is exactly what the Beretta 92G I'd like acquire in the near future will become as well.

The fact that I don't shoot DA/SA handguns as well as striker-fired (or SAO for that matter) isn't because I believe them to be crap... I just don't have alot of experience with them, and would rather continue to build upon the foundation already laid with platforms I've already laid more money and time into.

Started researching and found similar info as OP stated. The kicker was when i asked about them at On Target. The guy said it's the one pistol they can't keep on the rental board. Something is always wrong with it.

I love my Wilson Brig Tac. It was my last SSE and I have no regrets.

I also wouldn't sweat what that guy at On Target says... Rental guns are never in tip top shape due to extreme amount of use and neglect. I bet you the 92/M9 is one of the most rented guns across the board. Every movie and vide game nerd will want to try it outside of any 1911.
