    Is SSE2 finally here?

Looks like there's movement at least for 1911s:

How are they getting around the "manufactured as" requirement?

Because that's designed to be used on a virgin 1911/2011 frame. So it was never "manufactured" into a semi auto in the first place.

For 1911 and AR pistols this will be easy. Everything else...

So this won't help me get a Dan Wesson Valor?

learned in another thread that certain FFLs can take a frame/lower from another brand and "manufacture" a single-shot pistol.........so from that understanding this will work for a Dan Wesson. I'm sure the legal eagles will clarify shortly.

I don't understand the legal aspects, but if all they are doing is creating a mod to make it into a single-shot 22, and that's ok, why wouldn't this work for everything? All you need is a universal barrel setup that goes with a 3d printed "interface" to the gun. The printed "interface" layer could easily be plastic; it doesn't need to be metal. Yes you would need to do a little bit of 3d modelling for each particular handgun model but that's not hard.

Because 1911 and AR are somewhat more popular to mill (or, their parts and plans are more readily available). You still cannot convert an existing semi-auto pistol to single shot for the purpose of SSE. So unless if something major happens, we aren't going to see Sigs or Glocks using this method.

Not a mod, it is being manufactured as a break top single shot. Since the frame itself was never made, or intended to be made, into a semi auto they are good. Same as an AR lower, it is just a receiver, not semi, single shot, or break top, until designated as such. This is how I understand it anyway.

ETA: You could do it with any pistol frame. The problem comes when trying to buy the upper/slide assembly. 1911's have several makers of uppers as do AR's. Try to find anything for Sig, CZ, HK, etc. Not gonna happen.

I could see SIG doing it, just as they had been one of the first manufacturers to get on board with bullet-buttons and "CA compliant".

You'll never see any kind of variation or adjustment from Glock.

Would be awesome if they are willing to do it with the P320.

I do not see either of them doing it but, there are aftermarket Glock frames available already. If going through the trouble and expense may as well go with the aftermarket option.
