Could a CA resident purchase a standard cap mag (i.e. 16rnd XDm .40) out of state, "permanently modify" the mag for 10rnds, then bring the mag back to CA legally? I don't see why not, but maybe I'm missing something?

Sure as long as it is permanently blocked before bringing it here. Why not just buy a 10 rounder here? -

Couldn't find 10 rounders anywhere. Some shops sell the block kit but not the blocked mags. Found pinned mags on EBay for $100 for 2.Comment

I am very aware of this fact and that's what spurred the conversation. My local FFL is not 07 and I highly doubt they'd consider doing the mag mod. I know EBRW sells the blocks, but not blocked mags. Has anyone purchased blocked XDm mags from a FFL? I supposed the $50 Ebay option is not out of the question when you consider $30 for the mag $5-10 for the block and $10-15 for one's time.Comment
