    CCW sight setup

Putting a new pistol on my CCW, and was wanting to see if there is a "preferred" configuration in this application. I'm not really concerned with the brand names, more with the actual set up.

    1. Standard 3 dot
    2. 2 dot/i-dot
    3. Some sort of hi-viz front (FO, NS, etc.) and blacked out rear
    4. Other (please explain)

    Standard 3 dot

    2 dot/i-dot

    4
    Hi-viz (any) front/black rear
    0%

    Other

    The poll is expired.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one." What works best for you? That is the only question and answer you should be concerned about.

Night sights are strongly preferred for CCW.

          In a fight... front sight.

Whatever makes that front sight pop for you.

I think it will come down to your own personal preference. However I just put a set of Ameriglo i- dots on my G29 and really like them. Big bright orange dot in front really stands out in daylight, large u notch in rear does not hide front sight. Rear tritium is not outlined so not all that noticeable in daylight. In dim or dark light you just stack the two dots. 3 dots are confusing in darkness

These days I'm preferring fiber optic over night sights. But that's me.

I put the XS Big dot ("express", meaning no rear tritium dot) on my Shield and it works quite well for me at the range, at 7 yards or even longer. It IS quick to pick up. Is it faster than others? I don't know. But I DO know that I wear glasses and if one night, something goes bump in the night and I can't find my glasses (I'm not THAT blind, I can identify people easily at 25-50 yards) I can still see the big dot and line it up in that shallow divot if I have to.

My range guns all have standard black rears with F/O dot fronts.

^^^^^^Couldn't have said it any better. I've got the pro idot's on my g26 and my 49 year old eyes pick them up better than any other sight I shoot with. Wish they were offered for more models, will be trying out the HD's soon on my EMP and ROC.
