    Laser identification

Can anyone tell me which laser set up is on this HK? I've never seen a pressure mounted switch like that on a handgun before. Are there any pros/cons to this type of set up?

Looks to be an airsoft laser on a $900 pistol.

The huge issue I see is what is going to happen if you have to switch hands? That setup looks kind like someone did it without really thinking other shooting possibilities in mind, other than right handed 100% of the time. There should be nothing that could possibly interfere with the controls on the weapon itself. Every pressure switch I have seen on a handgun is usually on the front strap of the grip, with the wire under the trigger guard.

Looks like the pressure switch was supposed to be lower on the frontstrap, activated by the pinky or ringfinger. That would keep the cable under the triggerguard and out of the way for shooting lefty.

Can't ID the laser unit, but I think a Crimson Trace unit or Surefire with a DG grip switch is a far better option.

That is just an old, cheap laser for a pistol. It's basically a laser pointer with a pressure switch. I've had a couple of early styles that clamped around the trigger guard too.

I don't like the high prices of Crimson Trace or surefire.
it's expensive for what you get but those are the two names in the business that seem to have some kind of quality and reliability.

I also don't know what make you have but would recommend you step up.
I personally prefer Crimson Trace if you decide to put lasers on your firearms.

if you do decide to go with that laser set up..
re- run the wire so it goes along the trigger guard if you don't want to glue it, I'm sure you can find those mini black tie wraps and just cut them tight.

and re-position the pressure sensing switch where you wanted to be.

Find a used Laser Devices BA-5. Much cleaner, very durable and developed with HK.
