Best night sight options for Glock?

I prefer XS Big Dot sights. Another good option are the Ameriglo i-Dot Pro sights.Comment

Well, this position comes up almost every time the discussion of NS is brought up. And to it I say that MANY situations exist that don't involve settings so dark that a light is required. In fact with the misc. nighttime light sources in my home, I can walk through most of my house and ID anything/anyone I need to w/o the use of a light. Especially if I'm coming from sleep and my eyes are adjusted to the darkness. There are MANY cases where I can see what's around me enough to identify friend vs. foe, but it's still not adequately lit enough to see a dim sight picture.
With that said, it is pretty well-documented that in most shootings sights are not even employed. However, I'd rather have and not need than need and not have. I think Trijicon HD w/orange front posts are pretty much the perfect HD sight. Bright lamps. Nice bright orange ring for the daytime. Wide, u-shaped rear notch makes for fast acquisitions. There's really nothing to improve IMO.

Night sights are overrated. You simply will never line up 3 glowing dots in the dark to take a shot in a lethal force encounter. Look at any officer involved shooting on YouTube; he's probably not even using his sights, regardless of distance to target. Using sights under stress is a skill gained with lots of training. And since we're the good guys, we need to ID our target. Night sights do not do this. Here is a recent story of a cop shooting his daughter after returning home from sneaking out. I'll bet his gun had night sights, but no weapon mounted light.
You should use sights, but a simpler sight will make getting hits under stress easier. That's where the bright front with a black rear comes in.

I have done more than a fair amount of night training, including inside industrial buildings with no ambient light whatsoever (100% darkness).
In an open field using simunitions, I was able to hit my counterpart every single time while he used a handheld in various positions. They were not all center mass hits, granted, but hits nonetheless.
When he used a weapon mounted light, the hits were all center mass, except for those that hit is gun or gun hand , by just aiming right at the light.
Flashlights or weapon lights used incorrectly can be a detriment rather than benefit.Comment

I've had the Trijicon HD's and Amerigo I-Dots, for the money you can't beat the Ameriglo's. Trijicon makes the lamps that go into the Ameriglo sights, so the quality is just as good IMO. If you like the 3 dot setup, go Trijicon. If you like the Heinie 8 setup with 2 dots, go Ameriglo.Comment

Just because you have night sights doesn't mean you'll use them, but they're there in case you DO have to use them. It's the best option to accommodate every potentiality.
Yes, I have lots of night training and yes, I also shoot lots of competition and I'll still take bright night sights every time. I like Trijicon HD's and Ameriglo Spartans so much, I've been replacing all of my fiber optic fronts and hack rears on my competition guns. Best night sight options for a Glock? Plastic sights?
Best night sight choices you have are easy....An HK VP9 LE or a SiG P226 with night sights. Even the base HK VP9 comes with steel sights!
If you insist on keeping the glock... Novak low profile sights with Trijicon inserts.Last edited by Ronin2; 03-14-2015, 10:36 AM.Comment
