M&P Shield When does it fall off roster?

I am looking into getting a M&P Shield. Not sure on 9mm or 40cal yet. I was looking at getting one in June. Does anyone know when they fall off the CA roster? Just curious if I have time.

    Thank you

    here you go, http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/

just because you see an expiration date listed does not mean that it will be falling off at that point. S&W has the option to renew it if they wish for another year.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Given it's Smith's only semi-auto in california, I'd bet they keep on making the CA version for as long as possible. We already get stung with a higher price to support this.

        read this:

        specifically this paragraph:

Unless California changes its position, all M&P pistols other than the M&P Shield, will fall off the roster by August, 2014, due to performance enhancements and other improvements we have made to those firearms. This includes the M&P9c, which has fallen off already and several other M&P models that will fall off by the end of this month. Other models already have fallen off and will continue to fall off for the same reason.

Pretty sure I read they specifically said they would continue to make sure the Shield stayed on roster in CA since they felt there were fews weapons available in CA that matched it's design and need. I just need to find the quote. As long as they pay and don't change it, it will stay I bet.

that letter is from a year ago, and S&W has already renewed the Shields since that letter was written.

Evidently you forgot about the SD9VE, SD40VE and the 22-A-1.

Every gun on the roster, including the Shield 9 & 40, has to be renewed by their respective manufacturers every Jan 1. Those two Shields will expire 1/1/16, although I can't imagine that S&W wouldn't renew them. They will keep them on for the foreseeable future, unless they decide to abandon the CA market entirely

They were supposed to like Ruger, but they left the shield on the roster and I'll bet Ruger is bummed about the LC9 and LCP not being sold especially with the growing need for ccw pistols.

the point was they will not be dropping the shield any time soon; i think i answered that, and the letter being a year old doesn't change the fact that they are committed to keeping certain pistols available in california.

Thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for. I was at work and did not have much time to research. I knew if I posted here real quick I could get the info asap. Looks like I will be ok to buy in June.

Thank you for all the other replies and information. I bought a M&P 40c and I have the full size 9 and 40. The last two were purchased a month prior to falling off the roster. I had to spend money fast I did not have, put me in a bad spot with the wife. She came with me to pick one up, after DROS and the Store owner explained how they cannot be purchased anymore. So that sort of helped. I will have saved enough by June and could get one with out causing friction at home.

                        Thank you again
