Lighten a 629 competitor

I recently bought a 629 competitor and its a nice gun but that thing is heavy, even without the weights. I also own a 629 stealth hunter and it just balances nicer and is lighter even with the longer barrel. Any of you have a competitor? Or have one machined to take off weight? I guess I'm looking for a shop that can machine some weight off or customize it some how. I like the slab side look of my stealth hunter. I already own a 4" mountain gun that's why I chose the 6" competitor, maybe I'll just go buy the v-comp. thanks

Isn't the whole purpose of the Competitor model, with its weights, to BE heavy? If you don't like it, sell it and enjoy your Stealth Hunter. Don't mutilate the Competitor.

Lighten a 629 competitor

It's seriously heavy even without the weights. And I don't mind having a weapon modified. It's not collectable or rare just want it to my liking.

That's not the point. I'm all for making customizations to help make a gun fit its user. The point is, however, the modifications you're making go contrary to the initial design of the pistol. It's like buying a G34, then modifying it by having the grip shortened and installing a G19 slide on it. Sell the G34, buy a G19. Rather than drilling lightening holes in your Competitor, sell it and buy a Light Hunter (or the V-Comp, as per your OP).

Maybe I'll start working out? I'm not gonna drill holes all over it, just wanting a lighter gun that you can add weight if needed to balance it out according to what your shooting. I'm not going machine it to look like a regular 629. Nothing wrong with customizing a gun. I just think it's heavy for a 44mag. I own two 500's and a 460 and even thou they are heavy they feel right to me, the competitor is too heavy.

Even though I could never imagine doing any of that to such a nice gun, it is yours afterall and I say do what you like.

First of all I'm not trying to be a jerk but have you guys shot one before? Or held one and compared it to another revolver? I'm just saying a little weight off would feel better to me. But I've already got an earful so maybe I'll leave it alone. Calguns just crushed my dreams of creating the perfect revolver. Now I'm sad.

7.5 vs 6 inch. I would just like to see it lighter.

Just make sure you have someone that knows what they are doing work on it. That isn't something I would want bubba'd
