    CZ 97BD problem

I'd like some advise from the CZ experts here. I just picked up a NIB CZ97BD after 10 days of DROS. I bought it home and realized that i can't reach the trigger in DA trigger position. Small hands here. I called Scott at CGW and was told that his Pro package upgrade would give me a trigger travel reduction by 5mm besides other features. Would 5mm reduction make a big difference? The trigger is quite heavy too. I pretty much have 3 options
    1. CLP and try it stock at the range
    2. send it to CGW
    3. keep it unfired and post it back up on Calguns. I'm reluctant because it's not very day that i can get an off roster NIB CZ 97BD in Cali here.

You didn't hold the gun before purchasing it?

FWIW, a 5mm reduction makes a HUGE difference in trigger reach. But this is only because I can "feel" that difference after owning and shooting many guns.

Remember, the pro package also includes the 85C trigger, which shaves a few mm from reach as well.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

I did hold the gun but being a firearm noob that i am. I held it incorrectly, also had some doubt but since it's so rare I pushed the purchase button anyway.

I installed the RRK on my 97B. The trigger has a set screw to remove pre travel in DA plus I installed a hybrid T1/RRK disconnector that David custom cut for me. It shortens the static position of the DA trigger and also changes the geometry and leverage of the trigger pull. The DA trigger pull is shortened as well.

Static DA position without the RRK

With the RRK trigger and hybrid disconnector.

SA static position with the firing pin block removed and FPB lifter arm replaced with a spacer in combination with the hybrid disco. For the decocker version you would have David custom cut a hybrid T2 (retains FPB) disconnector to have the RRK and short reset.

I knew that someone who knows a lot more about CZ's than I do would be along to help.....

I really like the Glossy blue finish.

CAGLS, what sights do you have on the 97 you have pictured?

How often are you actually going to shoot it in DA?

With no mag and the gun very unloaded, use a tie wrap to pull the trigger back
5mm (~0.2"). Then check to see if you can reach the trigger.
Then you will know for sure.
Option 2: Shoot SA as stated above.

OP you may also want to invest in a lighter hammer spring for a few bucks. They are easy to change out and it will significantly lighten the DA.

That is a beautiful pistol and that trigger swap definitely changes the reach, however another option would be to have that guy or cz custom shop convert it to SA only with a flat trigger. It is their idea of a 1911 right? Might as well make it SA if you are never going to be able to reach the DA pull.

How they never had you feel it in the DA pull and not just the SA is beyond me.

Measure the distance from the backstrap to the trigger on a gun you like? How does this number compare to the 97's current length? Is the difference between the measurements in the neighborhood of 5mm?

Thanks, it's the CZ Tactical rear sight standard dovetail I got from CZC.

Should've got a safety version and converted it to SAO
