    Fresh out of jail--Polish P64

Meet the newest addition to the family, my Polish P-64. She's an oldie (circa 1973), but a goodie (unbelievably accurate, despite age and obvious prior usage). Wasn't sure what to expect for $280, but she's turned out to be worth every penny, and I'm looking forward to a long and happy shooting relationship! Anybody else have one of these little beauties in their stable?

I took a look at one of those a few months ago at Turners and the single action pull on the thing was the most ridiculous thing I'd felt in my life (as far as triggers go). Had to have been better than 20 lbs. My wife, who's not a petite woman, couldn't even get the DA trigger to "fire" without using both her left and right index fingers.

I ended up buying a Tokarev instead.

I agree--this gun is not without its issues, for sure. The double action trigger pull is absolutely absurd, and I couldn't pull it either on the display gun that I initially looked at. The one I ended up purchasing must have been more "broken in" though, and I'm able to pull the trigger on mine in double action with a bit of effort. In single action, the trigger is MUCH easier to pull, so I just always make sure the hammer is cocked before I shoot it. Another issue that it has is a pretty harsh recoil. I get around that by wearing a leather glove with padded palm on my shooting hand. With those two shortcomings tackled, this pistol is quickly becoming one of my favorites!

I would jump on that at $280.00 all day long. Good deal OP.

An excellent firearm. Well made, 0.84" at the widest points (controls).
Congratulations. 9x18 is a very capable and apt SD round.
That gun can shoot anything. HP,RN,FN, Underwood +P, BB+P.
And stock its 100-150+ fps faster than the 380acp. And its .30mm wider, so it covers a bit more area.

I like mine, it is on my CCW, I shoot it well. Inexpensive, small, cool looking, well built all steel pistol, what's not to like? Guess I lucked out, mine has only about a 14lb DA trigger pull, I can shoot it fine and the SA is about 3.5 lbs, very light.

I like mine alot. I think it would make a good ccw gun once you replace the springs with some Wolf ones. Recoil is snappy but not that bad. Go to the P64 forums for spring recommendations. You can score some nice wood grips too. Heck it even has a LCI too.

Get the Wolff springs and you will be good to go

Thinking of picking up one of these. I know the DA trigger is heavy (like 20+ pounds), but this will be a range gun so it will be shot mostly in SA and wanted to add to the collection. Any downside to this P-64 or should I just get a Russian Makarov?

Was really looking to get a Russian Makarov, but those are harder to find and cost more. Anyone got a good source? Thanks.

I got one. Put the wolf spring kit in it. Still a snappy little biotch though.
