Glock will fire every time.
Shield9 will fire every time (as long as the guide rod isn't out of position or doesn't get bent).

Nice theory but my G42 doesn't fire every time. Very picky with ammo. My shield has never had the guide rod walk itself out of position. You have to be careful and make sure the spring looks right but beyond that never had problems.Comment

Yeah I don't own any .380s (all .380s are crap), we're talking 9mm.
You may not have had the problem yet, but the Shield 9mm guide rod problem is very common now days (I say this as someone who almost bought a Shield 9mm).
I had a problem this weekend after going to break in my new Shield 9mm. I had it lock open on a loaded mag twice and figured it might be ammo related as it went back into battery fairly easily. After firing about 325 rounds, I started to take it down to clean. I started the process per the...
Iv been looking for an upgraded version of the shield 9mm guide rod and spring assembly or even a factory one would be fine at this point in time... Iv not had any issues with my current assembly even tho iv fired about 250rnds with it.. im looking for extras as a back up to have on hand... any...
I've noticed when I disassemble my M&P 40 that the guide rod/recoil spring is not seated in the groove designed for it. It is out of the groove but still pressed up against the barrel. Is that normal? Other guns I've had don't do that. When I clean the gun and re-assemble it I make sure it...
This is the video I made for for ssguiderods.com once piece guide rod for the S&W shield. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoKnoGkKGzg&feature=youtu.be
Just purchased brand new M&P Shield 9mm. Had one previously, but made mistake of selling it... (another story, but my wife is happy). Got home and immediately field stripped (no problem), inspected, cleaned thoroughly with Ballistol, and then "tried" to reassemble. Inserted guide rod/spring...
I would just like to relate story to my esteemed colleagues here ... I just had an issue and therefore contact w/ Smith and Wesson and I am very happy to say the least! So I am about 6 or so +- weeks into owning my Shield. The last time I fired it, I had trouble reassembling it. I think it...
Some of these guys had the problem only 6 weeks into ownership. The Second Amendment ex-tends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding. - The United States Supreme CourtComment

Oh....I hear yuh on the PRK part.
I was just speaking practically. If you had your free choice of both and were choosing to limit yourself to 6rds......why not go G36? In all regards the G36 is everyso slightly larger, but seems a fair trade off for the same number of rounds in a larger caliber. The biggest dimensional difference seems to the height, but we're talking a 1/2 inch longer grip. For concealment the extra 3/4" in length is negligible since length is easy to conceal.....it's grip size that makes the difference.
Dimensions
G43 vs. G36
Length (overall): 6.26 inch / 6.96
Width: 1.02 inch / 1.10
Height (with magazine): 4.25 inch / 4.76
Barrel length: 3.39 inch / 3.77
Weight
Pistol with Unloaded mag: 459 g / 17.95 oz / 22.42
Loaded: 20.61oz / 27.00Last edited by Untamed1972; 03-18-2015, 2:56 PM."Freedom begins with an act of defiance"

This is exactly what happened to my Shield. I started having FTF's my second range trip (my issues surfaced day 3). I field stripped it and saw the guide rod was bent as well as the base of the spring. It's currently back at S&W.
That said, I have never had one issue with my Glocks with parts or being picky with ammo.
Probably the main reason I'm interested in the 43. Glock has proven to be reliable to me.Comment

The other big factor being that the Gen3 G36 is still on the CA-roster... details?
But demand for the G43 will probably drive prices up ridiculously in CA regardless since they will be nearly impossible to obtain... nobody ever said practicality/reason had any say in that kind of thing...
