Condensation marks on Glock

Hi,

I have my G34 in a metal pistol case under my bed for HD, what I see is that one side of the gun especially side that's touching the bottom of the case has condensation marks like the ones in the picture. They go away when I wipe the gun with gun oil or rem oil.

Is it because the case is trapping moisture inside it? and also I am little concerned that it may lead to rusting of slide.

Please advice.

Keep it wiped down with an oily rag and put a silica pack in the case with the gun to absorb any moisture.

is the floor a concrete slab? If so, might be picking up some moisture from that. Definitely throw a bag of desiccant (silica beads) in there. It's a good idea anyways, even if you aren't having moisture problems.

Is that egg crate foam marks? That stuff shouldn't touch a firearm for too long a time. It does trap moisture.

case does have foam inside, I put a paper towel at the bottom but still see these marks. Shall I remove the foam? What do you recommend to put inside the case.

If the floor isn't either carpet/carpet pad/concrete or wood/pad/concrete or whatever material you choose for your home, what else could it be besides concrete?

I'm glad the egg carton case was brought up. I'll be sure not to leave it in there for that long. That kinda sucks.

floor is carpet, but not sure what's beneath it.

what should I replace foam with inside the case?

I have these sacks, but this gun is HD gun so that why I have in a pistol case under the bed.

Don't use the flap, then. It's just a sock, it doesn't stop you from quickly accessing it. Hopefully the case it's in is a lock box.

OP, I have a similar lockbox in the bedroom for HD. It has the egg crate foam inside like yours. I ended ordering a flat sheet of kydex that I cut to the right length x width of the lockbox.

FYI - to hold me over while I was thinking of an easy solution, I used a flyer/advertisement I got in the mail. It was a thick card stock with a glossy top layer.

All the kydex needs to do is create a barrier to keep the foam from wicking away the oils from the finish. I used the flyer for 3-4 month before buying a sheet of kydex off of eBay.

Kydex is inexpensive. It comes in various colors and thickness. It starts at approx $5-6 with shipping on eBay for a 8"x12" sheet that 1/16 thick. If you don't plan on "forming" the kydex, you can get by with 1/16". I went with 1/8" material so I can try my hand with kydex with the scrap material. I also chose white kydex so when I look in the lockbox I can see the contrast of the handgun and magazines against the white kydex.

Egg crate foam is a no go. Get rid of it. Use a dish towel or something in place of it. Use a Rem Oil cloth on top of that - and set the gun on the rem oil cloth. The Rem Oil cloth has moisture guard and VCI.

Wrap + tape pure silica cat litter in a coffee filter and keep it in there too.
