M&P 9c vs Shield

Didn't read the comments but read your post, my wife is 4'11" and is pretty small with very small hand and loves her M&P9c, she is able to rack the slide a lot easier than the Shield and has no problems if she needs to conceal really, also she says the 9c fits her great and is easier to shoot than the shield

Racking the slide and especially locking it back is pretty stiff when new, but it softens up A LOT after a few hundred rounds. Don't let the initial stiffness bother you.

Having shot both (own 3 shields and buddy's wife had a 9c) i feel recoil is negligible between the two.

The shield conceals better but not everyone likes the shields ovalish grip

I have both the M&P9c and have fired my friends Shield 9. The recoil is a little less perceived with the 9c. Racking the slide, which has never been a problem for me but is for wife and adult daughter seems lighter with the 9c. The 9c carries more rounds than the Shield. The Shield is thinner and easier to conceal, if that is a consideration. With the above, the M&P9c seems to have an edge. That being said, handling and firing each is the only way to know as each of us has factors to fit and feel that are less definitive and more subjective that helps us choose the best pistols for our unique situation. The 9c felt terrible in my hand. The Shield was way more ergonomic even though it was smaller. Just my 2 cents. Never shot the 9c but I own a Shield and love it.

Shields are all over the place these days. It shouldn't be too hard to either find a rental counter that has one or a guy that would let you run a mag through. I don't know too many of us that wouldn't oblige a lady who asked nicely.
