    mini red dots/pistols

    Who has had it done and how much was it? I want to get the slide on my MP9 cerakoted/ported and have a red dot like a burris fastfire put on. I know trijicon red dots are the best but are pretty pricey. Any companies local that do it? I know of plenty online but id like to stay around LA area

      Fedtacticaldirect.com has a sub $400 price on the Trijicon RMR.

        If you got a Trijicon RMR at least it'd last longer than the cheaper alternatives.

        The company that made the gun in your picture, Salient Arms International is located in Oxnard.

        If you want your gun to look cool, they are a good place to spend your money.

        If you want to shoot better, there are better places to spend your money.
        Salient is awesome but hella expensive, i probably wouldnt do crazy porting maybe more serrating of the slide then actual porting. I dont have a problem with shooting but i have heard good things about adding red dots and i like the look

              a reasonable and cost effective alternative is Burris Fastfire III with Burris mounting plate for M&P - the plate installs in place of rear site... it sits a bit higher than having the slide machined - but it works well once you zero the dot.

              The mount is inexpensive as is the mini RDS - but it holds zero and holds up to recoil... I have it on M&P 9/40 and haven't had any issues.

              Browse a huge inventory of Optics products including Scope Rings & Mounts, & Red Dot Sights & Magnifiers with 4.5 rating on 2,756 reviews from verified buyers.

              Or if you want to have rear sights in addition to mount, you can use a rail section (I don't prefer this, as it sits even higher - but might be cool with ADM QD mount, just really high): http://mp-pistol.com/mp-shield-pisto...-red-dots.html

                Probably some porting like this and cerakote in burnt bronze.

                        The cheapest and the best route:
                        1. Find a Core (they do go up for sale under pistol section once in a while);
                        2. Install Burris FastFire III;
                        3. Profit.

                        How can you be certain that you will like having a rds on your pistol? Target acquisition will be different compare to open sights. Investing that much $$$ to mill your slide is risky. Having a pistol is that miled at factory for rds gives you the option to try it out. If you like it, then mill out your Glock. If not, sell the set up for minimal loss.

                          ^ Agree with this. I bought a milled slide & RMR combo for my Glock 19, didn't like it, wound up selling both the slide and sight as it just didn't work for me. If it works for you, it's really nice in terms of target acquisition, especially on multiple targets. Guess I'm just too much of a dinosaur for RDS on pistols, although on rifles I love 'em.
                          I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

                            Dave's matalworks in corona does the RMR milling at a reasonable price.

                            I installed one and took a 4 day class with the pistol

                            Inside of 7 yards, I think I am faster with factory sights than with the RMR and co witnessing ameriglo supressor sights.

                            The little dot bounces a lot and I end up slowing down a lot.

                            past 10'yards the RMR does allow one to be more accurate.

                            I have not yet had a chance to shoot it at 50 or 100 yards.

                            Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

                              Ask yourself, how accurate can a red dot be when it's mounted on a moving slide? The only exception is a Buckmark. My 2 cents
