    consignment Handguns

How long until you can ppt a hangup on Consignment? There's one I'm looking at the came in yesterday, so I put a down payment on it but I can't have it for 30 days right? It has to stay in the shop for 30 days is what I was thinking I was hearing. I can dros it in 20 days to pick it up the last day of the 30 days?

You cannot DROS it until after the 30 days have passed. So DROS on 31st day and pick up 10 days after

I'm confused, but then again I have never bought a handgun on consignment.

Are you asking if a gun that just came in and got put in consignment needs to be in the store for 30 days or did you just purchase a handgun and are asking when can you start dros on the handgun you just put a down payment on?

Usually handgun consignments are handled as a PPT and are exempt from one in thirty rule. Here's a hundred or so other posts on the subject https://www.google.com/search?q=ca+h...ww.calguns.net

This is correct. The FFL has to hold it for 30 days for all the back round checks or whatever need to be completed for the gun once the FFL takes hold of it.

many areas have rules on consignment items that they must be held by the FFL (those that are required to ahve a second-hand pawn license) so that the local LEA can make sure it isn't stolen. that is usually a 30-day hold. some FFLs are willing do start DROS on day 20 knowing that you can't pick up until day 30 when the hold would be up (but yo might lose out of DROS fees if the gun comes back hot) and others won't even start DROS until day 30. just like some FFLs won't even display a gun if it is in hold, so all consignment guns on display can be immediately DROSed, others are willing to display hold guns with a notation that it can't be DROSed until a certain day.

              Oh that makes sense.

I think he was saying dros on day 20 then pick it up after the 30, I was Confused. I was happy it didn't fall under the 1 in 30 day rule but I have to wait even longer to pick this one up anyways haha oh well, what's a couple more days anyways

I have purchased consignment as a dealer sale and not PPT.

that depends on the dealer and what the firearm is. if the consignment is an off-roster handgun, it has to be DROSed as a PPT, otherwise the roster applies.

One in thirty still applies to PPT within L.A. city jurisdiction (city ordinance)

I believe Turner’s will hold it for thirty days while it is checked for reported stolen.

My brother put money on a S&W 586-2 and this is what Turner’s told him.

This was over a year ago and he is really happy with it and it was well worth the wait.
