Sig SP2022 Weight Mods?

Hey guys, this is going to sound weird, but are there any accessories that ADD weight to the gun? Specifically to the grip section? I love my Sig but I wish it had a similar heft to it as the P226. I was wondering if any company made a metal backstrap for it so I can have a little more heft in the back end.

Side note, does the SS guide rod add noticeable weight? (PLEASE NOTE I'M NOT TRYING TO START A POLYMER VS SS GUIDE ROD THREAD, JUST LOOKING TO ADD WEIGHT)

Lol this is one reason i sold my 2022. I just wanted a metal framed pistol. The after market for them is very limited and i doubt a metal guide rod would make much of a differnece.

I went with the SS guide rod and yes, it's noticeably heavier up front. And I'm with you on adding weight to the frame/grip but I just don't see a way...

Yeah comparing the two hand in hand I didn't notice much of a difference. But man after dumping 200 rounds with my SP2022 it's just so damn light! Definitely not going to get rid of it (it's my first), but I definitely need to find a way to add weight.

I'm not sure if it'll add weight to where I want it though. I have no problem with the front weight, but rather the back area specifically the grip. It's like I'm not really holding anything.

Put a fully loaded mag in it or buy a P229 (or P228).

If you feel the need for more weight on the rear, I suppose you could fill in the cavity on the mags by the pinky extension. Some self sticking wheel weights perhaps?

Rhetorical question, why buy gun X only to spend more to make it more like gun Y? Just get a P226.

I had already bought it. I can manage but I just thought someone knew of ways to add weight to it.

Shrug. Aluminum grip? Thick aluminum magazine base pads? if they even exists. I just don't see the point in it. The 2202's strength is reduced weight and cost. Why reverse its strengths?

You could buy a Honda Civic and spend a fortune to make it faster, but it will never be that Ferrari in your bedroom poster.

Do they make those? I googled metal grips and got nothing back. I was thinking about see if I could inlay metal into the back strap but never got around to doing it yet. And to each their own right? The weight isn't in the right spots for me.

Already said I'm not going to sell. And why all this reluctance to fine tune something to your taste? Have you never tweaked any of your guns? All of yours stock? I love my Sig. I just want to make it more comfortable by asking if anyone had modified their Sig. First two posts on my thread had the same experience. Great gun, just a little on the light side.

My first pistol was a XDM 9mm. It was a good gun. Reliable and accurate. Like you, I felt it was somewhat lacking in weight in the grip/frame area. Some of it prob had to do with the polymer frame but I also think our 10 rnd limit also contributed to the imbalance I felt in the gun. Thats when I steered towards metal framed guns which always felt good in hand. Steel for hd/range and aluminum alloy guns for carry types. My 2nd gun which I replaced the xdm with is my cz PO1. Better balanced in my hand and just as accurate and reliable.as the now gone xdm. Like the previous poster implied, I wouldnt try to make your Sig something its not. Just look at other options that better suit your needs. After all how many times have we said this is the gun I'll never let go, but then relegate it to safe queen or get rid of it once we find a better gun

You could try loading it with depleted uranium rounds.

With polymer comes light weight and if you're shooting 9mm it shouldn't be a problem. But with .40 I can see why you want it heavier in the back. Unfortunately, there's no cure unless you can find somebody to fabricate a metal grips.
