    Handgun images in thread - using Ipad?

    Hi All,

    Need some help...

    Anyone have any suggestions for someone trying to get images up in a thread using an Ipad?

    Would like to upload some handgun images to create a thread but cannot seem to get images to load.

    Do not have any fancy online accounts with photos stored, but do have the images on the Ipad, and in email - if that matters...

    Thanks in advance.

    Best,

    CnB

    Off the top of my head, this should work:

    * Open Safari
    * Navigate to Calguns.net
    * If you're on the mobile version, scroll to bottom and select "Normal Version" (you may have to do this twice; this step might be optional)
    * Go to create/modify thread/post
    * Click on "Manage attachments"
    * Click "Choose File"
    * You'll be prompted to "Take Photo or Video" or "Choose Existing"
    * After uploading, use [img] tag to embed of desired.

      If you wanna add actual pictures into a post you need to use a photo storage/sharing site like photobucket for example. You just need an email to create a photobucket account then you can upload the pictures you wanna add. After the pictures are uploaded on photobucket you just copy the IMG code for the pictures you wanna share. Next paste the code into your thread on here. That's the only way to post an actual picture into a thread. You can also add pictures as an attached file to any post or thread you create, just look under the submit post button for the section titled additional options. If you add a picture as an attached file it will not appear on the thread as a picture but as a link to the image that open in a new screen. I will add a picture as a file with the IMG code you need from photobucket to post an actual picture.

          Ahh got it - added a pic but as a file and is super small.

          I like the images when they show up in the thread as an image and large... So the only way to make that happen is with something like photobucket and copy the IMG code?

          I can create a photobucket account - is this IMG code something easy to find - all I need to do is copy and paste this code into the thread body, I do not use the "add image" URL button in the "advanced thread" options?

          Thanks for the clarification and help!

              Grr - too small...

              How does this look for y'all? Good image size?

              Don't want to be one of those images that blows up the whole screen, but fits just right into the thread... thoughts?

                This post looks good. You don't need to use photobucket, you can use the IMG tag with the calguns attachment.. It's completely up to your preference.

                  You got it. You can change the size of the photo by editing it either on your iPad or on photobucket. When you wanna edit a photo to change its size look for the option called "crop" photo. Most photo editors are pretty good at cropping with minimal distortion to the photo. Anyway, it looks like you got it figured out but I figured my post may be of interest to a future member trying to learn how to post a pic. That's if they know how to use the search feature.

                  I didn't know that. I quickly tired to figure that out without success, following the instructions above. I'll have to mess with it again when I'm not half asleep.

                    Thanks!

                    The crops is good to know - So if you crop smaller it will reduce image size?

                    Is there a desired resolution for images added to Calguns and does this resolution affect size?

                    Thanks for the help and I hope it helps others too as for the longest time I have been wanting to add images and have seen others ask how to do it as well, but never thought to create a thread on it....

                      At least 800x600 is a good place to start.

                        When the crop is a drastically different then the original depending on how good the editing software is it may affect the resolution. I'm sure there is a size limit Calguns has for pictures but I've never seen it enforced. I think slightly smaller then the good one you added is preferred so the pic fits perfectly into the screen. Yours was pretty close so I'd say it's acceptable.
