    VP9 slide question

I shot my VP9 for the first time today and the slide did not lock up after the last round. Is this normal ???

It's easy to have your strong hand thumb make contact with the slide release lever and keep it from engaging. I stared out as a 1911 fanboy and the high ride on the thumb safety curses me to this day. Adjust your strong thumb away from the lever...

Not normal for that gun to not lock back on last round.

Normal for people who may accidentally ride the slide stop, which I do hear about for the VP9.
Also normal occurrence for the P226, XD, anything with a huge slide stop sticking out.

Glock certainly does win in this area where you can have your support hand ride closer up to the slide/axis. Someone should make aftermarket parts for all those guns and make the profile slim like the Glock.

Just adjust your grip slightly, should be fine. I moved my support hand slightly up, strong hand thumb slightly out. That clears the slide stop for me on all those guns.

While I doubt your VP9 has an issue, shoot it one handed with your thumb far away from the slide release to verify function.

I removed the external feature of the stop on my Glock. It always locks open now. I don't use that stop to drop the slide anyway..

Just so we know, what ammo were you using? Some reloads and some factory ammo can be kinda of weak. Also, remember your pistol is brand new and the springs will be at their heaviest. I do suspect a grip problem---maybe not tight enough or you're hitting the slide release...
