    Maintaining Documentation

So I own a couple CA-legal handguns; however, with respect to the purchase of new firearms as of this date, 1 might not be CA "legal" per the CA DOJ roster.

What kind of documentation do I need to keep to show that I purchased when it was 100% legal?

Just want to make sure I'm dotting my i's and crossing my t's.

    Thanks in advance!

Not being on Roster does not mean a gun is not "legal" in CA.

Therefore, you need nothing as far as documentation is concerned.

Thank you. So, should I just keep purchase information/receipts/invoices, or should I be keeping any other additional info?

      Thanks btw!

It is legal for you to own, buy, and sell pistols that are not on the roster. It is just not legal for you to import them, and it is not legal for a dealer to sell you one from their inventory, unless you are exempt.

I keep a file on all my "gun stuff". Keeping receipts for any purchase, work done, certificates from any training, CCW applications, everything. Things change and having a record costs you nothing and may be invaluable at some point in time.

No need to document what you have except so that in case of theft or other lose so you can prove a recovered weapon is your or it's value for an insurance claim.
