My Front Sight is Loose.

Well it finally happened.

Colt 1911. Regular staked dot sight.

Managed to make 2k before being loose.

My guess is another 20 rounds and it will end up down range.

Anyone know or any Sac area smith who machines Novak cuts? I need front and back.

Otherwise, I'm sending the slide to Novak for $250ish.

Why don't you just re-stake the dang thing and shoot it another 2K rounds? Now if you've got some money burning a hole in your pocket - then by all means feel free to find an expensive solution..

Better yet, buy the staking jig and just do it yourself and once it's paid for - it's free to fix your sight after that.

And yeah.. staked stuff can "shoot loose" over time. The good part is that it's really easy to remedy.

I for one would much rather have a permanent fix. Sights should NEVER shoot loose.

It says $115 on their website. Is the slide stainless or do you need to get it refinished, too? I'd just send it to Novak's and have it done right.

Novak front dovetail mounted sights will be solid. Check with springfield Custom Shop they lock the front sight with a roll pin.
