I agree. However, having said that, I have one 9mm that everyone who picks it up comments on "Wow, this feels so good" and as a bonus it has a great trigger and is very accurate, even in the hands of a newbie.
CZ-75 B Single Action Only, with CZ Custom hammer. AND the icing is Hogue Rubber wrap around grips. I know, many people hate hogue grips, but the grip angle and size of the cz-75 is perfect for the rubber finger groove grip.
Maybe you hate finger grooves, I don't know, but even if you don't shoot it, holding that gun with that grip is bizarrely comfortable. Not just in my hands either. Sort of like if you pick up some play-doh and squeeze it into the shape of your hand.
But, yeah, many good 9mms out there. I would also recommend the Glock 17 HIGHLY. Reliable, within price range, accurate. An excellent "do everything" 9mm, along with it's smaller and more concealable Glock 19 brother.
Many guns out there. Some ou can tell by holding them that they aren't for you, some are like my "comfy gun", some are neutral and you can take them or leave them.
Rent a few, see which ones you like at the range. Pick the one you like best then go back to the range and pick that one and a few others, repeat until you find there is a gun that you just like alot.
If the PPQ were still obtainable, I'd have suggested that as well.==================

Remember to dial 1 before 911.
Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.
There. Are. Four. Lights!Comment

Shoot everything and then get a sig sp2022 in 9mm. Glocks are great, so are CZs (better for more experienced shooters), im sure the PX4 is an excellent gun too. I have a beretta M9/92 its accurate and reliable but ergos kind of suck. I would choose a gun based on well it fits your hand, natural point of aim, and how well you shoot with it. That being said, if you can shoot a Glock well you can shoot anything. I would recommend an M&P9 but their off roster now, its like a perfected glock LOL.CRPA and NRA member.
Note that those who have repeatedly expressed enough vile and incoherent content as to render your views irrelevant, have been placed on my ignore list. Thank you for helping me improve my experience and direct my attention towards those who are worthy of it. God bless your toxic little souls.Comment

OP... this thread is going to be a bunch of dudes telling you to get what they like.
You can weed out any tips that include a specific model. Training and practice with something that fit you is what you want.
And CSCANNONEER's advice on a .22 is sound. And a lot of full size-centerfires have a .22 counterpart (1911's, Sigs, Glocks) They might not all be on the roster, but check the marketplace.Comment

As a new shooter (last 3 yrs only) I went through the same situation on my first purchase. Must have held every 9mm handgun at every store. Rentals are OK but must are not maintained well and you don't get a good sense for what a new one will feel like.
So . . .
Glocks - Great Choice. Actually any of the 9mm Glocks.
XD - I have 4 of these. Great choice and has grip safety which I like.
M&P - Great Choice - Slightly wider grip for me with my girlishly small hands.
Beretta - I have no experience directly.
These would be more than $600:
HK - Another great choice (both would be PPT though since off roster.
PPQ - Another fine choice.
I personally would NOT go the .22lr route for your very first handgun. I have 8 or so handguns now and still no .22 handgun.
Good luck and keep us posted as to what you get!
I am a few months away from turning 21 so I will finally be able to purchase a handgun. I have been looking around researching and I seem to like either the glock 19 or Beretta px4 storm. I am seeking a little suggestions or advice just to see what else is out there. I do like the fact that the storm has a manually operated safety. Any suggestions out there that might help? I am open to other brands an models besides Beretta and glock. I am looking for a 9mm pistol. Thanks for the helpOriginally posted by Citadelgrad87It's one thing to question everything . . .
