You can sell as a private party transfer through an FFL

You can sell it to someone who's allowed to own one. More details here: http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/Bu..._in_California

If anything, it's value may now be higher because people can't get one from a retailer.

you are not stuck with it and can sell it as a private party transfer to anyone that can own a gun in ca.
it being off roster means retail stores cannot sell them to the public like you asked. leo's only

What these guys are trying to tell you is

            1) you can sell it
            2) it's quite likely appreciated in value, ergo you'll get more than you paid for it
            3) congratulations

Yes as long as they're 21 and eligible for gun ownership. The approved handgun roster has zero effect on private party transfers. You can sell it to someone who is not excempt from the roster, as the roster does not apply to private transfers.

You could probably sell it for what you paid since it's now off roster and SSE is gone.

Just sold one (2015) for $475 w/4 mags

Still a hard sale because the Shield is still available.
