    Finicky 9MM

I have an EAA Witness 9MM, which is I believe the most accurate gun I own. It has had the feed ramp polished, but it will stove pipe on occasion. Usually one per magazine. It will not cycle hollow points at all. THey catch on the flat portion and will not chamber. This is no big deal as it's for poking holes in paper. I have hear that I can have someone do a little beveling to the bottom of the extractor and this will solve my problem. Has anyone every dealt with this before? Thoughts?
I have also hear my gun is worth between $300 & $1,100. I thought somewhere in the middle was realistic. Where can I find the true value?
    Thanks.

How many rounds through it? Are the magazines new, or have they been used quite a bit.

You might just need an extractor. How long have you had this gun? I had a cz that ran great for quite a while and it started to stovepipe too. I replaced the extractor and it runs fine. I would think eaa would sell extractors or this place does. http://www.henningshootsguns.com/shop/upperparts.html You might want to try an extra power extractor spring from wolf which might help too. Is it the first round, middle or last round stove piping? What brand of ammunition are you shooting when it's having a problem? My Tanfoglio will feed anything as long as they are full power loads. Post a picture and we can gauge the price of your pistol.

My Tanfoglio is also very accurate like my Sig.

Does it do this when others shoot it? Possibility that you might be limp-wristing it.
And you should mark your magazines so you can keep track which mag is in use when this happens, to help diagnose if the problem is related to a particular mag.

              Stove pipes

You know it kinda does it when it wants, and never at a certain time. It stove pipes less if I shoot Spear Lawman. As for the number of rounds through the weapon, I would guess less than 5,000. I bought it from a guy who shot a little more than I do. I usually shoot once a month. As for selling it and buying shomething else, none of you guys wanted to buy it for the $600 OBO price tag.

That because none of us know where Manteca is.

Will you post a picture already?

For $600 it must be one of the nicer ones. Why don't you check to see if there is gunk under the extractor. Also have it detailed strip to see if the springs maybe gunked up due to heavy oiling. Post a pic dang it. Here's mine.

Two common problems on the Witness pistols are the extractor spring and factory magazine springs. Contact Wolff Gunsprings and get their extra power extractor and magazine springs. The extractor spring should take care of your stovepipe issue, and the magazine springs put a little more pressure on the nose of the follower which keeps your holowpoints from diving into the feed ramp. Make sure you clean any gunk from under the extractor while you have it out.
