    Reflex sight on Buck Mark?

Thinking about putting one on my Buck Mark Practical. Can those of you who are running these, (or had them and didn't like it) offer your experience and recommendations? This is strictly a fun gun, I'm not trusting my life to it, so if the dot fails I'll just shoot something else or take the RDS off.

Thinking Burris FFIII, but also considering less expensive options; PA, Weaver, Sightmark, etc.

Don't know what size dot I would want, I want to be able to pick it up fast but I don't want it to block a lot of my target for precision shooting. Yeah, I know it's a tradeoff, so what's a good compromise?

Is 3 MOA too small for quick shots? Is 8 MOA too big for shooting golf balls & shotgun hulls?

How much does the mount raise the sight up from normal? I'm leaning toward the Tactical Solutions rail because it has a rear sight built into it, all the others I've seen you lose the rear sights.

    Whattya' got? Pros, cons?

Are these as much fun on a plinking .22LR as it seems like it would be?

Thanks in advance, and feel free to post pics of your set-up.

Burris has good reviews. I dont own one, but I have 2 nikon monarch red dots, and a vortex razor.

I'd go with the 3 moa dot. My razor is a 3. My monarchs are the rare breed that have adjustable dot size..... I usually keep them small.

A handgun, normally the dot will not co witness irons. An AR can because they have stupid high irons.

Are you talking about this Razor?

I looked at that, I really like my Vortex PST 1-4X but can't justify (afford) putting that RDS on lil' plinker.

Those Monarchs are no longer made right? I think I remember you posting about those in another thread some time ago. The adjustable dot size seems like a great idea, I wonder why more of them don't offer this.

So you're able to pick up the 3 MOA dot quickly on a bright day?

The Buckmark is a fun shooter. I have used one that had a Burris FFIII with 3MOA. It was quite visible and has brightness adjustment settings. I think the FFIII was mounted on a TacSol rail - no co-witness as far as I could tell, but a very fun shooter nonetheless. Just make sure the FFIII is secured or it will shake loose after about 200 rounds.

I put a cheap Barska on my Ruger 22/45. Definitely not for bullseye shooting. The dot covers too much target & is way too bright. Maybe a better sight with more brightness adjustment would help.

For 15 yard rapid fire mag dumps at a sillhouette with bad eyes it's the schizzle though!

Anybody using the PA reflex on a pistol?

I used to have a reflex sight on my Ruger MarkIII Hunter. It was so accurate and made it so easy to shoot any target that it got so boring.....it basically took out the fun IMHO. If you compete, it'll be great I suppose.
