Markiii hunter, why the big deal?

Thank you to calguns, I am the proud owner (in 9 days) of a nice used almost new ruger hunter.

I sent a picture to my step brother, and he claims it to be a unicorn so to speak. I only did the trade, due to my fixation on the beauty of the pistol.
I could not stop staring at the picture that was emailed to me. There i sat in front of the computer staring at this stainless piece of art.

My question is, are these really that rare? I personally didnt even know they existed. It does have eye appeal. And now the wait...

Congrats on a beautiful pistol! They may be rare in CA because of the roster, but in free states they are in stock and ready to order:

Also the TandemKross mag safety eliminator bushing - absolutely a must in my book. http://www.tandemkross.com/Steel-Ham...stols_p_9.html

            and the LCI filler http://www.tandemkross.com/LCI-Repla...245-_p_62.html

Wow never heard of that. I love American ingenuity! Does it make takedown easier? I never had a problem with the takedown myself.

I might be in for one if they reduce the profile of the 'bolt stop pin' so it doesn't poke up so far, and also make it blue instead of chrome. I'm not about to mar up this beauty with a shiny chrome franken-bolt poking out of the top

              Forgot the Picts!

Thanks for the links. ARRGGHHH the wifey seen the pictures, and asked if it was new, told her almost. Maybe 20 rounds or so. "Honey there will be no shooting that pistol" was a sentence i think i heard. Selective hearing.

I did have a sweet mark i grew up with. That had alot of work done to it. I think the quick take down, and mag disconnect bushing, as the lci is on the list of to do's. Not sure about the trigger yet. I do hate putting those rugers back together. Sometimes i get lucky and it just goes together, other times, i feel like throwing the darn thing at the wall.

No how do i get one from a free state? O wait, go to a gun show in kentucky, pay cash, sneak it past the airport, im home freeeeee. Lol.

I have a VQ kit in my hunter. Love the v-notch sight. This pistol is super accurate, but quite heavy.

Beautiful pistol! I own several Ruger .22's and they are as good as it gets when it comes to .22's. Now all you have to do is put a few hundred rounds through it and enjoy!
And don't listen to the choir of idiots in here trying to get you to make unnecessary mods to an already fine pistol. Don't f**k it up!

LOL. however the mag disconnect and lci do bother my ocd tendencies. So why did Ruger do all this ugly ca compiant, lci, mag disc. and still be off roster?

And how do i get a off roster here if i dont have any relatives out of state?

You wait for a used one. No, you dont need to do anything to it, but I did and now I have a 1.7 pound trigger. Guaranteed to make you smile.

Nice gun, I bought one on Calguns last year and gave it to my brother for his birthday. He gave me my first gun as a gift when I turned 21. I still have my model 586 Nickel 6" .357 magnum. I am glad I was able to get him a gun he has been trying to acquire for years.

It is so accurate and I love the fluted barrel! It's a beautiful gun.

My old custom mark. 1965 sold to a calgunner back in sept. The old pistol had alot of work done to it. Custom barrel/compensator, uber light trigger. It was a one off. Im not sure who did all the work. Work was done when it was brand new, i remember my dad getting it back from the smith. He was pretty happy with the looks and the trigger. I personally dont like blued guns, too much maintenance.
