Ok, i finally picked up my Sig Sauer P220 Combat.
Or is it a "Frankin-Sig-Combat"???
I appreciate all the feedback i got last week when i first posted the question about a black frame Turner's advertised P220 Combat.
So here's a recap of how i purchased this fine gun.
Ten long days ago i purchased a "Black" frame Sig P220 Combat from Turners in Pasadena. They showed me a "flat dark earth" color frame Combat p220 and the "black" frame P220 Combat and assured me that this is the exact same features with all the bells and whistles. I called Sig twice questioning the legitimacy of the "combat model". The first time i called they had no clue. The second time i called the Customer service person told me it was a special purchase just for Turner's chain because they are one of their biggest account. So i felt reassured.
Today i count down the minutes to pick up my first Sig after work. I walk in and hand him my receipt and wait for the shinny blue case. The employee goes to the back and gets the box and opens her up. As soon as i see the magazines, my heart drops. First off, it's suppose to be a flat black colored 8rd and 10rd magazine, well what did i get? Two stainless steel 8rd magazines.
... Hmmm, I thought i was getting a combat model and those magazines sure don't scream "COMBAT". I did get the TRUE 1913 picatinny rail, night sights, but not too sure about the "hard chromed barrel finished in Nitron" and the Phophate coated internal parts. The frame is definitely the "combat" frame, but in black. The grips are really nice, i've never seen a "desert" tone grip and i've done searches online and have never come across that color. The Combat model with the "flat dark earth" frame has grips that are more greenish in color. It's definitely a Sig original and it did come with black colored grips as well.
Does anyone know how to check for the "hard chromed barrel with Nitron finish or the phosphated internal??? Is there something to look for that would distinguish these pieces as opposed to the regular P220.
Also another thing to note is that all the P220 series on Sig's website has an internal extractor, but this one has an external extractor. What's up with that?
By the way the item number on the box was 220PR-45-BSS
(P220R, .45, Nitron, SLITE, DA/SA)
So i complained about the magazines and i'm suppose to call the manager tomorrow and talk to him about it. The staff was definitely friendly and willing to somehow help me out with the problem. I remember the manager telling me it's the exact same gun and i guess i'll find out tomorrow when i talk to him about the slight problem.
I definitely love the gun and can't wait to test it out at the range, but i want to feel rest assured that i'm getting what i paid for.
Anyways, here are the pics:
