Finally my Sig "black" Combat (PICS)

Ok, i finally picked up my Sig Sauer P220 Combat.
    Or is it a "Frankin-Sig-Combat"???

I appreciate all the feedback i got last week when i first posted the question about a black frame Turner's advertised P220 Combat.

So here's a recap of how i purchased this fine gun.
Ten long days ago i purchased a "Black" frame Sig P220 Combat from Turners in Pasadena. They showed me a "flat dark earth" color frame Combat p220 and the "black" frame P220 Combat and assured me that this is the exact same features with all the bells and whistles. I called Sig twice questioning the legitimacy of the "combat model". The first time i called they had no clue. The second time i called the Customer service person told me it was a special purchase just for Turner's chain because they are one of their biggest account. So i felt reassured.

Today i count down the minutes to pick up my first Sig after work. I walk in and hand him my receipt and wait for the shinny blue case. The employee goes to the back and gets the box and opens her up. As soon as i see the magazines, my heart drops. First off, it's suppose to be a flat black colored 8rd and 10rd magazine, well what did i get? Two stainless steel 8rd magazines.... Hmmm, I thought i was getting a combat model and those magazines sure don't scream "COMBAT". I did get the TRUE 1913 picatinny rail, night sights, but not too sure about the "hard chromed barrel finished in Nitron" and the Phophate coated internal parts. The frame is definitely the "combat" frame, but in black. The grips are really nice, i've never seen a "desert" tone grip and i've done searches online and have never come across that color. The Combat model with the "flat dark earth" frame has grips that are more greenish in color. It's definitely a Sig original and it did come with black colored grips as well.

Does anyone know how to check for the "hard chromed barrel with Nitron finish or the phosphated internal??? Is there something to look for that would distinguish these pieces as opposed to the regular P220.

Also another thing to note is that all the P220 series on Sig's website has an internal extractor, but this one has an external extractor. What's up with that?

By the way the item number on the box was 220PR-45-BSS
    (P220R, .45, Nitron, SLITE, DA/SA)

So i complained about the magazines and i'm suppose to call the manager tomorrow and talk to him about it. The staff was definitely friendly and willing to somehow help me out with the problem. I remember the manager telling me it's the exact same gun and i guess i'll find out tomorrow when i talk to him about the slight problem.

I definitely love the gun and can't wait to test it out at the range, but i want to feel rest assured that i'm getting what i paid for.

    Anyways, here are the pics:

Something not right about that... Slide not marked "STAINLESS", firing pin block pinned in, not milled (absence of 'ugly hole' on right side of slide), takedown lever missing dimple on right side, external extractor, and the obvious magazine issue.

Still looks good, but I'm not convinced that it's a P220 Combat in black.

Have you called Sig with the serial to see what it left them configured as?

Every slide I've seen of Combats has said "Stainless" on the left side.

        It looks like a pumpkin.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Did some Gunbrokering and checked out some of the Combat models. The older combat models with the internal extractor have "stainless" marked on the slide. The newer slides with external extractor does not have "stainless" marked on the slide.

External extractor should be better from what I've read over at SigForum.

The finish on the slide doesn't look as slick as some of the pics I've seen (or your frame) but it still looks good. Makes me regret selling my P220.

            Looks cool

I sell a ton of sigs. Never seen this model but I can definatley tell you that sig will work with dealers. Also think about the new short action trigger. It is as close to a 1911 trigger as you can get short of a 1911.

Great gun. Please let me know how it shoots. Is this the 5 inch or the 4.25.

            Thanks

There was some mention of SIG 220's having a bad batch of takedown levers (a LEO posted this a while ago). They could break and lock the gun up. SIG is apparently aware but didn't recall this part, but would replace it if requested (another great personality trait of the SIG company). The new takedown levers have a circle inside the right hand side of the lever. Yours doesn't (which is another indication this isn't the full house Combat). You may want to contact SIG to see if they can get you the redesigned version.

                Combat/Full size 220: 4.4". Carry: 3.9"

Nice piece! Do you have the slim "combat" grips on it? I liked the slim grips on the combat model so much that I ordered a pair for my own P220. Makes a big difference.

IMO, that's not the spec P220 Combat (220-45-CP-DS).

Just got off the phone with the manager of Turner's:
He offered me several options and even offered to take back my gun and get the "flat dark earth" model. I opted to keep my model because i actually like the black frame and the fact that it comes with the external extractor (which i've been told is better). He will be getting me the two flat back magazines from Sig Sauer and possible some extras. He also explained that from what his Sig Sauer sales person told him, it does have the phosphate coated internals and the hard chrome coated barrel with the nitron finish, just like it's advertised on Sig's website.

All in all, pretty happy with my purchase and the help i've gotten from the staff of Pasadena Turners.

The tan/desert grips add some attraction! I like it!

So when are we going to the range?

Personally I would take it back. Have you seen lunde's he has the regular green frame with stock black grips and it looks sweet. Those tan ones uggggh. But at least ask for the short trigger as a spare which it should have come with in the first place.

Thanks for the feedback, but i actually like the "tan" grips.
I'll ask them for the short trigger.
