I have all of the above too, but i aint stupid enough to buy a 500 mag with a 4 inch barrel.
My 444 is a marlin 444xlr though. You have a 300 win mag pistol? lol

Old timers tell of plenty of 29-2s that got sold with most of a box of ammunition after the Dirty Harry craze cooled off...

Hmm. Sometimes I regret selling the Model 29 I had (it was a 6" model). It was a pretty gun, and lots of fun to shoot, but I sold it not because of the recoil and blast, but because of the pain my wallet experienced in trying to feed such a voracious beast.

Maybe so but, the .44 mag is at least a recoil manageable round for most people in a 4" revolver. The .500 S&W in a revolver of any length is just ridiculous.

Frankly, a .500 S&W revolver is at best, a "novelty" gun.

Agreed, its in the same category as an AK pistol. Had one, kind of fun to shoot but the novelty wears off quickly when you can't hit the broad side of a barn with it.

Just added the 500 in the
                  8 3/8" barrel with compensator.
Only 5 rounds into it and it's great. Makes the Deagle feel like a stout .45
I say go for it but consider new if you're going to spend more than $1100.00
It's not hard to find retailers who will work with you on pricing.

Funny. A .300 pistol would definitely go into the realm of torture. I am one of those, who in 1978, bought an 8 3/8" Smith that came with 46 loaded rounds, and 6 empties. Stole it too. My first hand cannon. It's been a long twisted road since then.

I don't have one yet, but I like shooting big bore revolvers. They are just fun! Totally impractical. I shot a friend's S&W .44 Mag full sized revolver last week, loved it, even liked the sting it put into the web of my support hand. I would like the .500 S&W with the long barrel, it would be fun to have a revolver with a sling. Biggest I have is a S&W 625 PC. Hardly big bore, but it makes me want to get something either .44 Mag or .500 S&W. Actually very economical to shoot as how often are you going to want to shoot it more than 10 or 12 rounds in a session? ;-)

                              Never sell my 8 3/8" barrel 500.
Having fun by the way... is a very practical reason to own one.
Life is short man. You find something that gives you joy that is important.

Not to mention the fun it brings to others on a desert shooting outing, few will ever own one but you can let them try it and they will never forget it. Or people just watching it in action, especially at night.
So for many of us it's a great choice to break up the same ol same ol and as one described the experience...."shake hands with god". LOL
