5" .45 1911 with rail - options?

I'm looking for a full size (5" barrel) 1911 pattern handgun in .45ACP.
Since its primary use will be on the night stand, I want a rail for a light.
I prefer good value (economical but not cheap) - under $1000 if possible.

I'm getting frustrated shopping between the Roster and the retailers and the manufacturers' websites. For example, none of Colt's or Springfield's products meeting my specs are safe enough for us to use in California.

Any suggestions?

Or should I give up my search and just buy a used (police trade-in or whatever) Glock 21?

Up your budget to $1100 and start looking for a used MC Operator, or a great deal on a new one.

Sig Sauer although I had two with rails and sold them since I could never shoot straight with them. I don't know why.
RIA, I've purchased 3 and they have all been 100%.

You should be able to find the Sig Sauer 1911 Stainless with Rail and the Kimber TLE / RL II 5" in black for just under 1K before tax and fees. Everything else I know of is over the 1K price mark.

The Kimber TLE / RL II 5" also comes in stainless but its a little more than the black one. There is also the TLE / RL II 4" Pro model in both finishes.

The Kimber Warrior 5" has a rail.

The Springfield MC Operator if you can find one. It is being replaced by a new model.

And then you have the high end Springfield Professional LR, the Nighthawk GRP Recon, and the Wilson CQB LR.

All these are on the roster and have a rail.

I just got my MC Operator and put 200 flawless rounds through it. I looked hard at the Sig line as I have a few of there pistols which I like a lot. I very happy with choice. Both get great reviews but I went the 70 series route since I have a quasi 80 series with my S&W 1911. Where I got mine they put a new MC Operator on the shelf for sale at Island View in Ventura. Now having shot the Operator "I" am choosing to replace the wrap around grip with regular grips. Good luck with your search you should be happy which ever one you choose.

The Springfield MC Operator is PX9110MLP and that's not on the roster. Maybe it was but it isn't there any more. That was one of the ones I referred to as meeting my spec but not safe enough for us in California.

It's actually PX9105ML and is still on the roster. Atleast until 1/1/2016 that is

PX9110MLP is the model number for the new MC Operator coming out this year with the new front strap/MSH treatment and new grips. The original (and arguably more prefered) PX9105MLP is still on the roster. Whether Springfield will continue to make two versions of the MC Operator or do so just for us in CA remains to be known.

Get that RIA tactical and use the rest of the cash for range ammo, and quality HPs.

You could get a RIA tactical. Id go with a Kimber or a Springfield tho

Just get a SA mil spec and recover tactical cc3 polymer chassis
