    My new (old) Contender

I always wanted one ever since I shot my friends in the 70's. Found this recently in the ad's. 1979, only 80 rounds of .44 fired, according to the original owner, with a .30-30 and .44 Mag. barrel. I found a N.I.B. .223 barrel and a decent used scope. Matches my easy going pace of shooting. Now have to handload some .223. Found some good recipes in my books.

For me I double up on ear protection. Fun yes, but it will make your ears bleed.

Very nice, definately on my list of guns to have. I'm a sucker for a gun that can switch calibers.

Nice you might want to look into a set of Pachmayr grips they really help with the larger calibers.

Have the same era Contender in 44 magnum and 7mmTCU. The 7mm is amazingly accurate with open sights and at the time I could regularly hit a gong at 125 meters with it offhand.

The pain is in loading for the 7mmTCU wildcat and while I have some still in reserve my Dad and I were the only ones to reload it and its in the past now.

Great shooters. Lots of fun and an afternoon of shooting doesn't require a lot of ammo. As previously stated, an aftermarket grip by Pachmayr or Hogue will go a long way to reducing the felt recoil of the heavier calibers.

                    I shoot the .22 Hornet, .223 Remington, .30-30 Winchester, .35 Remington and .44 Magnum.

I have two older Contenders. One scoped and one not. The scoped one is in .41mag. They have been in. My safe for. 20 years. The ranges around here only let me shoot it at the 25 yard range. The scope is set for 200 meters. Se to shoot metallic silhouettes. That's a sweet deal you got.

I've got a couple , fun to shoot, and collect. I've got 18 different barrels , some are oddballs.

                            80 rounds ... that's a whole day of shooting.

A gun everyone should have and have in 223 & 454.

                            Sweet.
