Light Rail on 1911 45 ACP

Good Day Shooters, I have been kicking around the idea of mounting a light rail on my Springfield. I have thought to try my hand on using a Picitinny rail and drilling Tap and Die, But I would need to practice quite a bit before the final try. or order one of these adapters that slide on and are pined or set screwed. Have any of you had luck trying something along these lines, Thanks

Novak makes a ready made kit to do it!

If you need/want a rail, I'd suggest the Dawson one. Drill & tap the frame and mount the rail, simple enough if you have some machinist skills, and good quality.

ETA: I hadn't seen the Novak one, looks fairly similar and Novak's other products are good quality.

Your other choice would be Dawson:

              Dawson's are the heat.
Also, they work with stock holsters, u dont need any special thicker and fatter holsters to accomdate the light rail.

Surefire makes an adapter that replaces your slide stop, but I have no idea if its any good. If the quality is comparable with their flashlights it should be pretty good.

Do the Novak rail adapters fit holsters fine? Specifically a Blackhawk Serpa...

Hey these are neat. Seems like a great compromise solution. And easy to do.
