Glock 23 .40S&W conversion. Thoughts?

I have a glock 23 and want to convert it to a 9mm barrel. Has anyone does this before and how did it work? Or should I just keep it a .40? I also have the Sig Sauer 2P226 MK25 and love the 9mm.

Get a conversion barrel and 9mm mags and you should be good to go.

Just buy a lone wolf 40 - 9mm barrel. Works great. I have them for my 23 and 27. Never a jam or problem. I also buy 9mm glock mags but I hear 40 mags will also work.

The Gen 4 40-9 conversion does not cycle reliably at least with 115 grain factory ammo. Will need to play with lighter springs and/or extractor. Gen 3 should be good to go with just the barrel

You might want to change the extractor too, which is cheap.

I use a Storm Lake conversion barrel (only because the Glock Store was sold out of the Lone Wolf barrels at the gun show) and Glock 9mm mags. Everything else is the stock parts that came with my Gen 3 - G23. I honestly can't recall ever having an issue (FTF FTE) with the conversion in +/- 1000 rounds.

If you have a Gen3, the Lone Wolf barrel 40-9 is GTG. No need to change the extractor. 40 cal mags will work sometimes. 9mm mags work flawless. At least that is what I have found with my Glock.

I've been doing this for years. no problems, you don't need to change anything else. the 40 mags will work too but I like having dedicated mags for ea cal

It's as simple as a conversion barrel and mags. Also the 40 extractor only gets about 45% of the rim purchase it would get on an appropriately sized cartridge. It's a cheap part and once you figure out how to change the extractor it'll take you 90 seconds the next time you do it.

Many folks run just the barrel and mags and don't do the extractor. In glock armorer school they're adamant you should swap the extractor. I'd say if you're just shooting at the range no big deal. If this is a HD or ccw gun I'd do the extractor too. Also, if you don't change out the .40 extractor to 9 I'd definitely make are you clean under there really good, since that gap could fill up with carbon sludge then if you go back to .40 cause some reliability issues.

I did the 40 to 9mm conversion with my G35 via Lonewolf as well... It looks like a bull barrel when you convert it to 9mm.. All that extra weight really helped soften the recoil as well..

It didn't extract reliably even with switching over to 9mm internals but you'll find that some people get it to run 100% with nothing more than the barrel and proper mags.. So YMMV

As for HD or self defense, for my comfort zone, it'd never make the list. Regardless, it was a TON of fun to shoot and at the range, everyone loved it.
