Where to find a Surplus 92s

Hey everyone, I've been seeing the buzz online about surplus Beretta 92s's that are appearing on various sites (usually around $300). However, every site that I go to that sells them does not ship to California. I'm guessing the reason they don't ship to California is the 15 round mag that is issued with the pistol, but that being said, I still want one.

    For example: https://www.classicfirearms.com/bere...uto-surplus-vg

My question is, does any one know a shop that sells the Beretta 92s or a site that ships these to California?

I am located in the Inland Empire

    Ruger 10/22 (w/ red dot)
    Savage Axis (.308), Scoped, & a Laminate Boyd's gunstock
Mosin Nagant 91/30 (Planning on restoring stock)

If it originally shipped with 15 round mags, it's SKU would not be on the roster. Good luck finding an FFL who will receive or DROS it.
Your best bet would be one that is already in CA.

It's off-Roster so it can only be transferred via LEO sale, PPT, or out-of-state intra-familial gift.

        This!

        Not the 15rd mag.

You're more than welcome to place a WTB post in the WTB section. Never know, you might get lucky.

        Good Luck!

I believe the S verison had the European mag release, which means it is around the heel of the gun.

Try J&G Sales in Prescott, Arizona. From time to time, they have police turn-in, Beretta 92FSs for sale.

J&G Sales is a family owned guns and ammo business since 1946. We always strive to provide our customers with high quality product at low prices.

I bought two 92FS police turn-ins last year from J&G, when they were on sale for $329. A little rough cosmetically, but like brand new mechanically. They both work just great, and the price was too good to pass up.

Also check the prices at your local receiving FFLs. There is extra paperwork/cost associated with bringing something in from out of state. Those prices are not mandated and can vary wildly between FFLs.

Thanks guys, that explained it pretty well.
I wish there wasn't such a hassle with off-roster firearms.

If these are really old, they might not have the slide-catching widget that keeps the back half of the slide on the gun and not in your face if it breaks.

The Beretta Model 92, 92S, and 92F do not have it.
It was introduced with the Beretta Model 92FS.

Wiki says this about the 92S...

                            92S[edit]

In order to meet requirements of some law enforcement agencies, Beretta modified the Beretta 92 by adding a slide-mounted combined safety and decocking lever, replacing the frame mounted manual thumb safety. This resulted in the 92S which was adopted by several Italian law enforcement and military units. The later relocation of the magazine release button means these models (92 & 92S) cannot necessarily use later magazines, unless they have notches in both areas.

Sounds like you could have problems finding mags for it if you do find one.

IMO, the Elite and Elite II's are the ones to have. Both were made with the highly desired "G" configuration (decocker only). Get rid of the Safety all together.

I was going to link to a CDNN ad for a new Taurus stainless 92 for $380 but it isn't on the roster either. One of the criticisms of the Beretta 92S has been that for a few bucks more you can get a brand new, with a warranty Taurus. Of course, that only applies if you live outside of CA.

My local dealer carries the base model 92FS for $550 so for $250 more you get a brand new pistol, don't have to pay for a transfer, have two 10 round mags, have the more modern design, and have a warranty.
Check back later for a witty comment.
