    Glock 19 vs XD9 SC

If any of you have both, can you give me a quick comparison of them. Your likes and dislikes would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I just had both shipped to me yesterday afternoon...have not fired them yet. Here's my out-of-the-box thoughts on the guns. This will probably change as they break-in and as I become familiar with the guns.

    ===

    XD 9 SC Two Tone:

I dislike the crap that comes with the XD (mag holster, gun holster) because they feel cheap and I'll probably never use them. I'll probably use the mag loader, though.

The XD's sights seem nice, especially that front fiber optic. Mine came with two extra long pieces of FO replacements.

The XD came with 2 x 10-rnd mags (one with a mag sleeve).

The fit/finish of the XD was a surprise. This gun is extremely clean. It's probably the cleanest polymer gun I own (my new Grand Power P11 Mk 12 comes in a close 2nd). Mine is the two-tone version.

I sometimes try to rack the XD's slide without having the grip safety enabled, and find that the gun won't allow the slide to come back...that's a training issue.

The XD's trigger...meh. Maybe it'll get better as it gets used more.

I was surprised at how small this gun was, even considering that it is badged as a subcompact and even with the specs staring me in the face. Small is good when it comes to C&C, yeah...I'm wondering how well it'll feel to me when firing it.

    Glock 19 (Gen 4):

The Glock is all business and feels it. I feels spartan when compared to the XD...spartan but still nice.

I was surprised that the Glock came with not only two extra backstraps, but also two that were beavertailed.

Mine came with 3 x 10-rnd mags (and a mag loader).

This is my first Glock and I'd never handled one until yesterday afternoon, but the rear sight...no likey. That might change once I've fired the gun.

My other striker-fired guns have striker indicators (the XD does, as well). The Glock doesn't, although that's not a huge issue.

I'd heard that the Glock's trigger was one-of-a-kind. I was a bit underwhelmed with it (dry firing) to be honest. My Canik TP-9SA's trigger has a MUCH better feel. To be fair, this Glock is straight out of the box while my Canik has 108 rounds through it, with many dry fires. My Glock's trigger seems springy -- it feels like its offering resistance and there's more take-up than I expected when compared to the Canik.

Either one would be a great choice. It really comes down to the angle of the grip. My advice, shoot both of them and then decide which one feels "right" to you. Sights, accessories, triggers, etc... can all be upgraded, but you can't change that grip angle.

Glock 26, Glock 19, XD 9 Service, and XD 9 SC user...

Both platforms perform as expected... although over the years, I have moved towards the XD series as my preference, with the XD 9 Service as my workhorse.

It was primarily the feel-in-hand and ergonomics which I prefer on the XD.

I enjoy the full size grip extension option on the XD9 SC, the grip angle of the XD is a more natural point of aim for me.

Its rare to have issues with either platform, but I've had more FTF/FTE issues with the Glock, specifically the G26 than with either of the XDs. (0 FTF/FTE on the XD in about 10k+ rounds between the two)

I did deform the striker retaining pin on my XD9 4" after a massive amount of excessive dry firing when I first got it, never had an issue after replacement.

The Glock/XD pistols are generally poorly maintained lol, see lots of dust/dirt from desert use, and see a light cleaning after 1000-2500 rounds. Often times ran dry, and they hold up very well for hard use.

Get what feels best in your hand… otherwise they are pretty damn similar for the most part. I would add the M&P series of pistols into the same mix, but I have limited experience with those. Their 45 ACP frame feels better to me than the Glock and XD offerings.

They feel very different so that's where you need to start.
I don't like the grip safety on XDs. That's a preference that I have, some people like them. It just worries me. I hear they're reliable, 1911s have them, but I don't like them.
I have never liked the feel of gen3 glocks as I have short sausage fingers, but I almost bought a gen4 before SSE ended, they feel a lot better being able to adjust the straps.
I ended up buying the m&p pro instead of the gen4 glock, it was really tough to decide. The m&p just felt a little better in my hand. I had the gen4 glock and m&p next to each other and sat in the shop handling both for a bit wishing I could buy both and shoot them enough to make the best decision.
If its between XD and gen3 glock (assuming you're handicapped to the roster) handle both, shooting them is best, but 2nd is just handling both in store. Take your time, and go back and forth picking them up.

A little background info. I have a XD45 Service, XDs45, M&P9 and a G42. I have shot the G19 and really liked it. I have not shot the XD9sc. I guess I'm really looking for a good excuse to drink some more if the Glock kool aide. I know getting both is the right answer, but not realistic at this time.

              So you have
              Full size and sub 45
              Full 9
              Sub 380
Do you like them all? If so I say go bigger with glock 34 or xd 5". You have a m&p9 so why the glock 19? You have 2 subc, so unless you don't like the 380 why another? And yes the answer to why can always be because I want, very reasonable answer

                I don't shoot the M&P very well.

Well then since you said you shoot well with the g19 I think you have your answer. Get the g19 you like and look to sell the m&p which since off roster you should be able to mark it up x3 according to the selling forum here

For the Glocks, I have both the Gen3 and Gen 4 19. For the XD I have the 4" service model and the subcompact 9.

                    XD cons:
XD has a spongy trigger with a longer then preferred reset. The height of the slide over the top of my hand along with the slightly taller slide, makes a noticeable difference when feeling/managing recoil (in the negative way).

                    XD Pro:
Does come with a decent case, two mags and a double mag holster for a good price. The gun holster is ehh. I do like the front cocking serrations and ambi mag release. Over all the price for what you get (at the time a special for 3 extra mags was included) was a great deal. Sights are decent.

                    Glock 19 Gen 3 cons:
The trigger guard can use a better undercut. The magazine release is a little too small and far to drop the magazine with out changing grip angles.

                    Glock 19 Gen 3 Pros:
Good height of barrel and slide over top of the hand balance. Good trigger and very distinct reset. Sights are decent as well.

                    Glock 19 Gen 4 Pros:
Comes with three mags, has multiple back straps and for me the slim frame without a back strap is perfect. Some good texture that is not too aggressive on the hands. Bigger and much more ergonomic magazine release. Good trigger and reset.

                    Glock 19 Gen 4 Cons:
Can only buy as PPT in CA unless exempt from the roster. PPT prices are.... well.

Anyways, these are my personal thoughts. As others have said, go rent them and shoot at least 100 rounders per gun and see which one fits the ergonomics of your hands best. Good luck.

Great idea. Anyone interested in an OFF ROSTER stock M&P 9? This rare gun has been deemed UNSAFE by our lawmakers. Don't miss your chance to "flip off" Kamala... Only shot on Sundays by an old fat guy. Sorry no shipping on this beauty. $2150 FIRM.

Both great guns. You cant take any of our words for it. You are going to own which ever gun so, you have to hold/shoot both to see which you like/shoot best with since it'll be you who will be owning it.

Notice a lot of "you"? Some'll say Glock is better, some say XD. I point and shoot XD much faster vs Glock where i would shoot high on quick draw-shoot (due to angle of grip), but thats due to me shooting hundreds and thousands rounds from the XD vs a few hundred from Glock (muscle memory). So, its best for you to try it yourself.

I have the XD9 and the G19 and like both. Ive had the XD the longest and have 1000+ rounds through it with no issues. I would trust my life to this pistol, as it eats any ammo ive run through it, its more accurate then i am and the multiple safety dont bother me. The G19 only has about 400-500 rounds through it and Im begining to trust it more now that I have the magazine follower issue figured out.

If you want to compare like guns it should be this way...
                              g19 to XD9 service
                              G26 to XD9 sc
i have used many of glocks; m&p and XD/XDm.

I prefer the XD/XDm over the others. They feel better in my hands. I like the 1911 style safety and im very accurate with them.
IF YOU BUY ANY BULK AMMO FROM LAX AMMO, YOU BETTER COUNT THE ROUNDS. I WAS SHORTED BY THEM.
