1911 rustic look

Anyone have any ideas on how to make a rustic dirty look. The black paint was removed a while back. But I want it to look vintage it doesn't have to be pro or look perfect. Throw it in dirt? Mud? Throw me some ideas. In willing to try anything. I'm down for ideas.

Shoot the piss out of it and holster drills out of leather. Don't wipe it down after shooting. 5000 rounds and 10000 draws later you have the look and skill to boot.

Salt water will make it rust...from there you could create your own patina.

Vinegar, mustard, lemon juice, onions those are the sorts of things that will help you force a patina on carbon steel.

Assuming the the RIA guns are made of carbon steel just strip all of the oil off the frame and slide (alcohol, brake cleaner, something like that) and wipe on one of the aforementioned patina makers. Depending on how you wipe it on, how it sits, etc. your patina will come out differently.

Search for 'forced patina'.

If you want the old war look, shouldn't that just be worn bluing?
