Springfield Milspec SS 1911 for $679

Do you think Springfield Milspec stainless 1911 for $679 + tax is a good price? Turners has them on sale just for tomorrow.

    thanks

I wouldn't spend more than the cost of a RIA Tactical on one.

Mine works perfectly, and is 100% stock. Eventually it will be worth much more than that, but you might have to wait some years. I remember when Turners had the parkerized plain-jane models for $289; granted that was around 1987-88, but I'm sure the prices for those have rose substantially like most firearms.

I find that KYGUNCO has some of the best prices on-line, and they are asking $658 cash/shipped. Seems like it would be pretty hard to find a local FFL who has only a $20 transfer fee, so the Turner's price seems pretty darned reasonable to me.

            Totally worth it.

If you have ham hands i guarantee you'll get hammer bite from a milspec.

for the few extra dollars, Loaded is def. worth it.

Dad has a loaded and it's a lovely gun to shoot.

Island View Enterprises had them last month on their email list sale for $549.99. I also see them on Slickguns.com for $589 pretty often. If you're patient you could probably get one for less even after paying shipping and transfer fees.

The $549 and $589 price sounds better but....not everyone wants to order online, $679 for the SS model sounds about right around these parts.

                          It ain't easy being left-handed...

I would never get one even if they gave them away for the simple reason that I am left-handed and swore off all guns, excepting one (the CA Shield), that do not have an ambidextrous safety (holster and carry it with safety OFF). Are you listening, Springfield? When are you going to offer ambi safety with your Milspec? Then again, perhaps it would not be Milspec with an ambi safety. For now, I am happy with my only 1911- a Citadel, which of course has an ambi safety (among other things, AND, a 70 Series pistol!). The 'Loaded' and others are beyond my current budget.

FYI, as I recall, Turner's had new Colt 1991A1's for about $679 over one of their 12 days of Xmas sale last year. Felt a loss at not buying one for the same reason- left-handed- and I'll be darned if I have to spend hundreds more to purchase and have installed an ambi safety on a Colt, even at that price.

So, in response to OP's inquiry, it seems to be a good deal but is virtually worthless to sad saps like me!

There are better prices online but good for a local gun store. Well I guess its already good since buying online will have tranfer fee + tax also.
