I was in Shotgun Johnny's today, located in Manteca. They are offering FREE AMMO and shooting range pass for a contest. 1st prize is 500 rounds of ammo, 2nd prize is 250 rounds, etc. They want you to try out some ammo that is loaded with Bear Creek moly coated bullets. The best group wins. The shooting is done at California Shooting Sports and a free range pass is given to you with the ammo and target that they want you to use. I have to say I was impressed with the ammo selection. I picked some 44 special ammo that is loaded with 200 grain hollow base wadcutter. Since I reload, the folks also gave me a free sample of Bear Creek bullets to try out. I think I found my new favorite gunshop. Can't remember when a gunshop gave me anything! LOL

I love Bear Creek bullets.
Particularly the 200g Round Nose Hollow Base, shaped like a 230g, but 230g less. So you get that 200g SWC feel to it with the feeding reliability of 230g ball.
Also, Moly has all the benefits of plated/jacketed with only a marginal cost increase over (less than one cent per round) over Cast Lead. It doesn't lead up your barrel and doesn't smoke up like a BBQ.
My only complaint about Bear Creek is I can't mail order them. Has anyone out there found a mail order source for Bear Creek?
I am an absolute price shopper when it comes to reloading components, because even a fraction of a cent REALLY adds up. So while I love Baer Creek a lot, I can never order it in bulk (2,000+ at a time). Before there was Polymer there was Accuracy. -
Snoop, I'am not sure what you were paying for Bear Creek bullets when you used to mail order them, but I did notice that Shotgun Johnny's had a bunch of them for sale on their sales floor. You might give them a buzz and check out the prices. While I was there, I bought some pistol powder. Got some Titegroup and HP38 from them. The powder was repackaged in plain generic plastic bottles and labeled. The guy behind the counter says they can't seem to get one pounders and were buying kegs of pistol powder then repackage into smaller containers. He says that spreads out the $55.00 hazmat. I was shocked to hear that hazmat was up to $55 bucks! Sounds like a UPS ripoff to me. At least they had it instock. I get so tired of going into gunshops and finding the powder shelves empty. At least they seem to be making an attempt to help the reloader. I'm grateful for that. There is one guy at Shotgun Johnnys that I really like. Says he used to be a commercial ammo manufacturer for 25 years. The guy has helped me out in the past with some difficult reloading issues. Nice to talk to someone like him instead of all the young punks (tacktards) that you see in most gunshops. If it ain't a glock those kids don't know ****.Last edited by gunprofit; 02-10-2015, 11:35 AM.Comment

I, too, love Bear Creek bullets but do not have a source for them here in So Cal. Fowler's used to carry them. Can you call and order them?Comment

Bear Creek is owned by Steve. Here are two numbers for him.
Shop 209-874-4322
Cell 209-985-4049
I called Shotgun Johnny's and got the numbers. Told them a guy in Southern California wanted to buy his bullets. Nice folks down there at that gunshop. They told me that they sell his bullets for the same price that he sells them for to the public. I assume they get them at a dealer price. If he won't sell or ship them, maybe he can tell you what stores in SoCal carry them.Comment
