    Which BB gun?

    Hi guys,

Time to buy a new BB gun, mine is out of commission. I'm looking at these 2, any comments/tips/suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Emil

While those are options, for only a few dollars more you could have something like this:

We've got a great price on the Air Arms S510 EXTRA FAC Limited Edition Air Rifle. Get a great price and expert advice at Pyramyd for your next outdoor adventure!

You could go for serious target guns but they can get a little pricey.
Your permission slip is only an election away.

How is a price difference of $1,800 "a few dollars more?"
      Thanks,
      Emil

The Red Ryder is one of the quietest airguns, perfect for indoors.
Pyramid air online sales rates quietness from 1 to 4. RR is one of very few at the quiet level of 1.

            Simple maintenance.
The only maintenance is 2 drops of 20 weight motor oil in the oil hole every 500 shots. And regular gun oil for the outside of barrel, the trigger and lever after each use (barrel is blued). Never oil down the bore. 3-in-1 makes a 20 weight motor oil in the familiar little 3 ounce can.

No Co2 to buy, no Co2 oil drops to add every cylinder change.

For outdoors I am considering the Sam Yang PCP airifles which come in .357, .45 , and .50 calibers (some people cast lead bullets designed for firearms and shoot them SY air rifles). In some States the .50 is legal for javelina.

For entry level guns, look at crosman pneumatic guns. 760, 1377, 1322, etc. more versatile than the daisys you're looking at IMHO

I have a Crosman TR77 which has proven to be a great little air rifle. The scope it comes with is cheap as the crosshairs walk after firing. Just be sure to top it with some decent quality optics that consistently hold zero. There are too many cheap scopes on the market that are a complete waste of money, so buy once and buy right.

The TR77 is great for target shooting or for rodent/pest harvesting.

If you can swing it this is the ultimate BB rifle from Daisy Avanti Champion 499. I have this one and it behaves like a match rifle - accuracy, trigger, and light cocking. All lightyears better than the Red Ryder I own. Checkout the target below.

My airguns - FWB 700 (more accurate than I can shoot), Beeman P17 pistol (match accurate for $40) , IZH 60 rifle (match accurate for $130) and the Daisy Avanti 499

Since you seem to like Daisy products, have you seen this one:

It's a single shot, muzzle-loading BB gun. It's the target version of what you're looking at. I remember taking 4H classes in elementary school with those BB guns, using wood backdrops, in my church hall's basement, shooting paper bullseye-type targets. I'd be curious to see how many elementary schools today have programs like that. In high school, when I was in my JROTC unit's shooting team, we'd go to American Legion posts and have our matches. We used these:

Those were accurate airguns. It was a lot of fun.

OP, of course, if you're feeling adventurous, you could have Stephen Archer customize an airgun just for you: http://www.archerairguns.com/default.asp

Have fun with whatever airgun you choose. Cheers! --1911ShooterPhil
