    Gamo vs Benjamin?

I have a $200 credit at Walmart and was wondering what people would reccomend a Gamo bone collector in .177 or a Benjamin Genesis in .22 I know the Gamo is made in Spain so I would perceive the quality is higher than the Benjamin which is Chinese made any info or guidance would be much appreciated looking for a plinker / pest control around the house (track house)

Back in the days Sheridan was the best IMHO and so was Benjamin's. I would never waist $200 on a Cheap pellet gun as opposed to buying a real gun. Give me the Credit and I will give you $150 cash towards a real gun... :P

If you can cash in the credit, spend a little more money and have a gun you can hand down to, Beeman R7 or R9

Fwiw a friend of mine bought the wal mart gamo and likes it a lot. I haven't shot it, but that's why I'm in the air gun section searching the threads. I may buy it my self or go to sports athourity and get the whisper. It is a gamo as well.

If you plan to hunt "gophers & birds", I just watched an episode of a TV show for air gunners and they had said that the .22 caliber pellet is a better choice for hunting, irregardless to witch of the brand you select.
practice for a while until you get real good and then with a .22 caliber pellet you can probably hunt humanely.

I used to love shooting my air guns in my backyard way back when but I'd always just stuck with the .177 because of the availability of pellets and I wasn't really using it for hunting.

I have owned both. Both of them are fairly accurate if you throw the scope away and put on a Bushnell or Nikon. I use it to keep the ground squirrels out of my garden.

My Gamo Big Cat is what I bought to shoot gophers & pigeons. After breaking it in and finding the correct pellets it is dead on. Came with the 3 x 9 x 40 scope that is still working great. Its good out to 45 yards or so. Don't know about the Benjamin's.

If you plan on hunting, get the 22.

A Benjamin 22 cal air rifle like the Trail Nitro Piston is very effective as a hunting rifle. Straight-through penetration, one shot drop dead for a big fat male squirrel using Beeman Crow Magnum 22 pellets.

This rifle is on sale for $150 at Pyramyd Air right now with a scope, decent deal.
We've got a great price on the Benjamin NP Limited Edition Air Rifle. Get a great price and expert advice at Pyramyd for your next outdoor adventure!

It is moderately quiet also. Sounds like a wooden branch breaking when shooting.

May I suggest spending a little more to get the RWS Diana 34 new. They're around $280, less with 5%-10% off promotions. Lifetime warranty.

If you want to save money, the Xisico BAM XS25 is a Chinese made RWS 34 copy for $115, or the R9 copy XS 26 for $170. Don't spend too much to tune them though, otherwise you're better off buying the original German air rifles.

I agree, buy once cry once, I'd avoid either of the GU s you mentioned, look for an Beeman R9 or even the RWS 34, these Afr fine German made guns and worth every penny
