    Google "crosman 1377 mods"
all kinds of stuff you can do to it.
I have a stock early 80's model with the optional shoulder stock.

Metal breech, longer barrel, and flat top piston.
        And a metal barrel band.

          This ^
The all-steel hexagonal breeches that have provisions for adding top rails are simply phenomenal -- plus if you go the CO2 or custom PCP route, you will already have some components to make that second build. But if you're looking to do something simple but effective, then something like an enlarged pump handle would suffice. That, and a metal barrel band. And maybe upgrading the internals. Some folks like to put stocks on the 1377, but I think that just takes away from it being a "classic"

Here's a great page that I use quite often:

This blog is dedicated with respect and admiration to those beady-eyed, fanatical airgun customizers out there; I like what you do. I suspect that many of the people who read this blog may be old enough to remember the old air-cooled, rear-engine Volkswagen Beetle. Back in the day when I purchased a new Pontiac Firebird
