    Airsoft VS Airguns...

Which is better & why. No arguing Kids!

    I've never shot a real airsoft & I have 2 air pistols & a rifle.

Therefore in CGN Logic, the Airguns are better!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

In my mind they serve two different applications...

I can hunt small critters with my airgun, cant do that with airsoft. I also wouldn't start shooting my friends with an air rifle where I would have no problem doing that with an airsoft gun.

So depends on what you want to do with it.

I have a couple of PCP rifles, They are NOT toys! The will do serious harm, Just ask the numerous Ground Squirrels and Crows that have come within 30 to 40 yards of them.
I guess Airsoft can be fun, maybe for target shooting in the den?

Airsoft is great exercise, and training. I played war with a lot of fellas twenty years younger than me, this past summer, thinkinking I'd whup em all, being ex military, and having hunted and been around REAL guns all my life, and pretty much had my butt handed to me the first few games. I got better pretty quick, because these kids don't mess around, and an airsoft ''BB'' going 400 FPS will make you bleed.

Yeah it depends on what you want to do with it.
          For target shooting/small critter hunting=Airguns
For Playing Airsoft and shooting people=airsoft

Surprisingly there are some very realistic gas blowback airsoft pistols that are actually pretty good training aids for drawing from holster, doing drills, etc. And it's cool cause you can get an airsoft version of most modern service handguns, and practice with them in your backyard.

As others have said, it's all about application. I know it used to be fairly common for kids to run around shooting each other with BB guns but those days are pretty much in the past.

If you are trying to take small game or target shoot with precision, then Airguns are the way to go. If you are looking to have fun and shoot your buddies or train with realistic gun manipulation in an environment that you otherwise couldn't use a firearm, then airsoft is better suited.

Drilling with GBB airsoft pistols can be surprisingly realistic and can be done in your back yard, which for a lot of people is a no-no with a real-deal firearm.

I spent many a Saturday morning in my late teens and early twenties running around an abandoned fruit drying facility trying to shoot the crap out of my buddies. It was fun, it was good exercise, and it wasn't wasting my brain with TV, video games, or even worse, facebook. If it weren't for all of us "growing up" and moving apart, I would still play today.

Ditto the bb gun plinking at friends. We all rode drtbikes too back in the early 80's so everyone had helmet and goggles. Airsoft would have been so cool back then . I was driving through the old Ft. Ord (CSUMB now) and they had about 500 people in full camo getting ready for a blue on red game. Lotta money in tac gear and guns for sure.

Airsoft guns serve some VERY important roles.

One, they can be used to teach new shooters. They are completely unintimidating, and can be shot in your living room.

Two, they are great for "parlor room" target practice: Breathing, trigger control, stance, they all are required. It also helps you get past any recoil flinch.

Three, pest "control"- literally control, not death.
We have three outdoor cats (well, four, sort of). We like them around, they get rid of the rodents. But the feral cats are MEAN, and some are big enough to kill our cats.
A 0.20 gram BB moving at about 350FPS will give them a real pain in the ***, and make them think twice about coming around here.

Four, they let you buy your fantasy firearm (or a firearm that never made it to production) for a fraction of the price of the real steel version.

Take for example the Magpul PDR-C.

It was a fantastic idea, a super light, small, accurate, piston driven, forward eject bullpup rifle in 5.56.

Magpul never made it past the prototype stage. Why? We'll never know.

All we DO know is that all we have is an airsoft version made by Magpul PTS (Professional Training and Simulation, a division of Magpul proper).

Made out of the regular Magpul polymer and to the exact size of the real prototype with all the controls, it's as close as we're gonna get to owning one. It might as well be a real gun with airsoft guts.

Which makes me think that with a little bit of work, someone could easily shove a Kel-Tec SU-16CA in it

At one time, I setup a miniature scale model of Steel Challenge stages in my living room, and rang the plates with a GBB airsoft Glock. That was fun, and perhaps even useful at learning "how much I need to see" on different difficulty targets at max speed. I was already a pretty decent IPSC shooter, but real world constraints put a damper on blowing through thousands of rounds of 9mm every day in practice.

I have a couple PCP airguns, they are really neat and I wish I had something that nice as a kid who wore out a couple of Crosman 760 pumpmasters.

Brucey, airsofts are for kids. You are are too old to get into them as a hobby and not quite old and debilitated enough to shoot them out of necessity. They may be okay if you want to stun a cockroach, but I'd step up to a higher quality airgun for small mammals and such.

Here's the proof that they are for kids:
