Airsoft gear for me and my son

Alright, he turned twelve so I promised.
Dude is my size and has bigger shoes, lol. He can actually pick me up.

We may not do this too many times, so I don?t want to brake the bank with high end gear but I also don?t want to go so cheap the experience sucks.

We both like guns like mp5, and stuff like that. Side pistols like beretta 92fs but preferably cz75 fs.

We are not really attached to what it is tho. Tell me about your faves.

In terms of other gear, we would love suggestions on face protection and other paddings? I definitely don?t want to get shot in the peepee, hard to miss.

We would love to explore other knee protection options.

It wouldn?t hurt to know of good places where to start.

    Thank you, calgunners!

Rent first. Find out if you enjoy it enough to plunk down the cash for your own gear. YGWYPF absolutely applies with AS gear. Even the expensive stuff aint that well made. The cheap stuff is garbage. Buyer beware.

The Krytac out of the box is a great gun and you can compete with it I would run .28 bbs in it. Pistols go with a green gas blowback they will operate just like the real thing. You can get away a little cheaper on the pistol because you will not use it as much. As for face I run goggles and a steel mesh face mask I think that combo works way better than the full face set ups that fog up and are hot. As for the rest of your set up you could run a battle belt for extra mags or a plate carrier set up for more mags. I also like the med cap mags they work great and you dont have to wind them.
Check out Airsoftgi.com and also Novritsch.com. Airsoft is a blast and me and my boy still play and hes 21 now!!!

Years ago when I was into airsoft, I really liked Sig 552. MP5 style was second. Both were AEG.

Been a while for me ( about 15 years,) but Tokyo Mauri used to make pretty nice rifles and pistols when I was playing. Not the cheapest , but quality metal gear boxes that shot well. The M4's and AK's were the big players for AEG. The AK's used to have slightly better range , and the SCAR's were also becoming a favorite. I remember my buddies TM G36 was a impressive shooter with a very high rate of fire. I ran green gas pistols as was suggested above (P226), but considered switching to C02 guns for my pistol as the green gas units were a pain to fill sometimes and it sucked to have your sidearm not work in a CQB situation. MP5's and MP7's were popular for CQB areas where your shooting in buildings and closed spaces where distance isn't your concern.

There are some big online sellers

just like with guns- get guns based upon use.

are there fields to play within an hour of you? What guns work well for that field?

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
            (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

If you get an AR pattern airsoft rifle, I have a BCM-licensed MCMR 13-inch handguard that I ordered by accident (thinking it was for real ARs). It's like $100 bucks, but you can have it for $40 shipped.
