    Airgun at Shooting Range

Recently purchased my first gun, a 357 revolver, and plan to make a trip to an indoor shooting range. I also have a pellet gun gathering dust. Is it frowned upon to use an airgun at the range? My guess is to just ask the rangemaster when I get there but curious if anyone has had any experience with this. Thanks!

Because rangemasters are sometimes very busy watching over everything I think it might be best to call and ask before you go through the hassle of bringing your air gun and it's gear. Just call and ask " I've got a gun to shoot but I also have no place to shoot my air gun, would it be okay if I put a few pellets (or BBs) from it down range?"
But that's just what I would do. Someone here probably has seen it done or done it themselves.

Its been a while but the range recommended an airgun to test a down range chrono to verify operation instead of wasting carefully hand loaded testing regulated ammo. It worked for me. Sac Val Shooting FWIW Outdoor rifle range.

I shoot my air rifles and pistols at an indoor range almost every week. I just have to follow the same safety rules and procedures. Can only shoot paper and max distance is 25 yards. Still great fun.

There shouldn't be a problem with this. As long as you are following all the established rules for using firearms. An Air gun should be treated the same way.

I have 4 Airguns right now and all are $600+ Break Barrel and Underlever guns that look like firearms. IE: Full Walnut stocks and blued metal, most people don't know they are airguns.

I have shot Rimfire Silhouette with my R1 and actually knocked down targets at 100 Meters. I was shooting off a rest as there was considerable hold over and I could see the pellets flying in their rainbow trajectory but really there wasn't that much difference from a .22 RF.

I am looking at a PCP gun next and the one I'm looking is nearly as powerful as a .22 RF Short and way more accurate. I will shoot Rimfire Silhouette with it as it is a Repeater and I can get 5 or 10 shots of in the allotted time of 2 minutes for each stage.

It has taken along time for these guns to get into that category but more and more are showing up every day.

I shoot my pellet gun at the range regularly with no problems.

I go to the range to sight in new optics on my pellet guns as well as testing various pellets for performance and accuracy/precision.
