Wanting an airsoft pistol

Umarex makes nice stuff. I have the gen4 Glock 17 and the gen3 Glock 19. I like green gas cause its cheap and easy vs co2. -
Go green gas for sure. What design gun are you looking for if Glock the Umarex is good stuff. If you want a 1911 KWA makes a nice one along with a Beretta. I have both of the KWA styles and I just recently got the Novritsch SSP 1 and is more like a 2011. All of these guns are gas blowback and run just like the real thing.Keep Smiling!!!!Comment

I have a KJ Works KP-09, also known as ASG CZ75. Green gas sometimes don't have enough pressure to cycle through an entire magazine to lock the slide back on the last round compared to CO2, but this can be circumvented by loading 20 bbs instead of 24Comment

Awesome, I’m thinking the glock 19x by umarex is the play here. I went to a small local shop and took a gander at some, KVA is definitely nice as well. As long as me and the kids can plink and it won’t break I’m happy. I’ll go with green gas for sure, I saw and electric desert eagle but that was it, electric would be nice but I guess they aren’t as accurate as gas? Thanks again for you’re guys help!Comment

Electric (AEG) airsoft guns are more beginner friendly, but they're unrealistic (feels like shooting an electric nail gun, holds >100 bbs / magazine, have electric motors/gearboxes) and don't really transition well to live firearms if you decide to introduce them to your kids eventually. They're preferred if your kids want to play a public airsoft game.
Gas airsoft guns comes in different varieties, but the blowback versions lend itself the most realism with their blowback/recoil. They do require more maintenance than AEG guns for sure though. If you live in a dry climate, be sure to keep your gas magazines full of gas and keep the fill valves lubricated to prevent them from leaking. Gas guns are preferred if your kids want a 'simulation' airsoft gun to help train for real firearms. (As an adult, they're valuable training tools.)
There's also spring powered guns, which function similar to bolt action guns; they need to be charged for each shot. These are the cheapest, but also least fun.
Also a side note, be sure you're getting airsoft guns, not an air gun / bb gun. You can safely shoot other people with airsoft guns. Air guns / bb guns are used for varmint hunting are are not safe to shoot at people.Comment

Oh of course, growing up we use to have fun “battles” with spring guns you had to pull the slide each shot, was fun but this will be easier for the kids. It will also be safe/viable to scare off some stray cats that hang around my property but will honestly be a fun thing for me and the kids to use safely and not have anyone shoot out any windows too.
I’m now eyeing the umarex g18c for the obvious reason of having full auto and a larger mag. Any objections to that? Don’t know if that model has a bad rep or anything but it looks just as good as the other umarex models with full auto.Comment

Recoil isn’t an issue, just wanting something safe I can plink cans with the kids and scare off strays without killing anything. Mainly want to have a new activity to do with the kids outside.Comment

evike.com is in SoCal and has a good selection. I prefer CO2 over green gas--slightly more recoil, easier to use and may be cheaper than green gas, less sensitive to cold temperatures.SF Bay Area firearm training

Whether a gun uses more CO2 vs. green gas or it leaks more or less all depends on that particular make and model. And sometimes on that particular magazine.
Charging mags w/green gas can be finicky. Insert at an angle and you're venting gas everywhere. Shoot fast and the mag/gun may frost up. Use CO2 and the cartridge still has pressure when you change it out. There's pros and cons to both.SF Bay Area firearm training

I buy my green gas from Novritsch. He has a couple different power variants of gas. I run the red gas and have no issue running thru a full mag. Yes green gas dose not like the cold but if you buy the higher pressure it will make up for it.Keep Smiling!!!!Comment

Yeah I’m sold on the green gas, saw there are different types and if I ever needed to cheap out I can use propane. Now I’m just torn between getting the umarex g19x in green gas or a hi capa since of course everyone loves a 1911. Then again I’m just using this to mess around with and not “compete” with… should I just stick with the Glock? I just want something reliable that won’t break down easily and can be fixed by me if needed.Comment
