I have a Blue Streak I bought new circa 1970. It has a Sheridan scope mount and a cheapo/econo about 3/4 diameter scope on it with horrid optics. I am going to replace it but want to be sure to do it right. I remember reading somewhere that air rifle scopes where special because of spring recoil. Do I need to worry about this with my pump up Sheridan or can I use a regular rifle scope? Maybe smacking with the pumping is no bueno? Thanks in advance for your advice.

The MAC-1 folks make a custom scope mount for the Sheridan, might give you a better placement.
