    Air Venturi Avenger

Anyone been following the newly released Air Venturi Avenger PCP? Initial reports from YouTube testers and just regular buyers are looking very good for the crazy low price of $299. Nice and lightweight for hunting at only 6lbs sans a scope - I think it's the new King of the budget PCP's!

I'm going to grab one in .22 when they show in stock again and sell my Benjamin Maximus and Fortitude PCP's. Would get one in .25 too but I've got too much $ tied up in my .25 Marauder Synthetic and its accurate out to close 100 yards now that it's been massaged.

That is max fill pressure. The air rifle has an adjustable pressure regulator. You can set it to 2000 PSI, and then fill to 3000 SPI with a hand pump.

Over on GTA Forum, they are getting decent velocities, even after lowering the reg setting from the factory setting of 2900 PSI. Yes, filling to 3000 PSI will reduce shot count, but the Avenger seems surprisingly efficient.

So I just went shooting with my friend who has a .25 avenger. He liked it, I thought I was good, for a 299.99 rifle. The stock feels hollow and not well made, but, it is light and does everything okay. I would definitely take it over the gauntlet and fortitude, but we talked and the gamo urban when on sale for 199.99 is still the rifle to beat for price.

Well, Randy @ RL Airguns said he has 30 .22 Avengers due in around the week of September 14th and I am #3 on the waiting list! Guess I better get my Maximus and Fortitude advertised & sold.

I placed an order on the. 25 cal avenger, along with a UTG scope 3x12 44.
Looking forward to trying it out!

I just ordered a .22 Avenger and four extra mags for it this morning. Will be my first regulated PCP - can't wait to play around with it!

Randy at RL Airguns doesn't mess around - he got my rifle shipped out this afternoon and it should be here Saturday if UPS does their part.

Very much looking to see your feedback. Especially in the 25-50 yard range.

I hope it's the new king of the (price point) hill.

Well, the good news was UPS got my rifle to me this afternoon and it had 2600lbs of air so if it's leaking it can't be a lot depending on how much it left the Chinese factory with. The not-so-good news was I went to check the tiny screws holding the picatinny scope-mounting rails on and the two on the forward section are too short to engage the threads in the top of the breech block.

Went to Ace and figured out the picatinny screws are M3 pitch. They had some twice as long which are a little too long so I carefully ground/filed off a 16th or so at a time and test fit until I got them snugged tight & flush. Mounted up a BSA 4-14X44mm FFP scope I had on my Fortitude and can't wait to shoot it!

Regulator came set at around 2400psi but I don't have a Compressor yet so am initially only going to be filling to 3000-3200psi. Saw Hard Air Magazine did a Hand Pump Power Tune that yielded about 74 shots @ 23.92 Ft/Lbs so am going to bleed it down tomorrow and try that tune for now.

Looking forward to your report. My .25 cal version on backorder till the 20th. Trying to figure out which compressor to get.

Have only had the chance to shoot a couple of magazines doing a quick sight-in at 25yds to 50yds. Used cheap Crosman PHP's and Daisy HP's and accuracy was good for shooting off a truck mirror for a rest.

It's been too hot to try to setup my chronograph and do any lengthy testing. Supposed to start cooling down some after today so will try to get out this weekend. Have 4 or 5 different pellets to try and will take notes/pics - still learning to use the chrony (Caldwell).

On a related note, my Monocore Moderator/Suppressor Baffle from Seller Geoffk on ebay came today. I installed it & shot it once - some reduction in report but nowhere near what I was hoping for. Am sending it back for a refund and will probably order something effective from Neil Clague or Donnyfl.

FYI to any new Owners - Initially, I wasn't able to get the full range of Hammer Spring Adjustment from my new 22 Avenger. I could only get about 3-1/2 turns either way before it basically hit a wall and stopped whereas most owners seemed to be seeing 5-5.5 turns of adjustment.

Today, a member of the GTA forum suggested trying again but to make sure that the rifle wasn't cocked. I don't know whether or not it was originally cocked at the time but I tried again with it uncocked. I turned the HS all the way down then up - hit the wall again but carefully exerted a bit more pressure and broke through. Encountered another tight spot but made it to 5-1/2 turns/full power and back down.

Hopefully it will smooth out more as I use it but am so happy I now have full range of power adjustment and don't have to deal with returning the rifle for warranty service!

Still haven't gotten a chance to do a chrony session to see where my Avenger is shooting fps, fpe, and shot count-wise. Did take a drive over by one of our large area lakes that got burned around by yet another wildfire and brought the Avenger along to try and snipe some of the resident California Ground Squirrels. Got three DRT kills at about 35 yards and five more solid body hits at 50-60 yards so am pretty happy so far.
